Now to find the race on line, for my enjoyment. Thanks for the spoiler :)

Sik Mik had the run of his life! Looked super aggressive, carrying a ton of speed.

Gee looked like he was pushing it too much up top, way too fast and getting slung a bit wide in some instances. Looked like he took it down a few too many notches or something for the rest of the run.

Blenki looked pretty wild and stylish. Looking at the results, it's interesting to see how Grubby was ranked 24th after the first split and managed to get back up to 3rd in the 2nd split after "deploying his calves" and held onto the hot seat until Sik Mik's run.

All the guys I was rooting for got top 5, except for Gee. Shame what happened to Stevie and Mitch, but amusing how Stevie kind of did a parody of Gwin's run from last year. Sam Hill looked like he lost his footing and was hanging on with just his hands and 1 foot, as he was getting pitched forward. Didn't get to see what happened to Gwin.

Great race. SPOILER ALERT (sorry Mario)...

I LOVED Mik's run - the way he kept his chest so low on those huge jumps up top. But the story really is Jared Graves and his Yeti SB-66. He sat on the "hot seat" from 54th to 6th, when Mik finally beat him. He never had to leave the platform! Awesome!

Yeah, From what I've read 2 of the top 6 were on 27.5 (Blenki, and Beer on his Devinci proto). The lone 29er I'm aware of was Mitch Ropelato and not sure if he had a crash or mechanical but was way down. Still interesting to see them try different options, like Herz said Graves on the SB66 in 3rd was way cool, and mick squashing those jumps full speed and Minaar just muscling it was awesome. Still weird when Stevie went down in one of the first turns he kind of threw his hands up and stood there for a few seconds. But style points later for the no hander balls to the bars jump. Always entertaining

In the bottom 6 - Hill, Gwin, Hart, Smith - daaaaang!!! Stevie threw a one-footer whip (with clipped in pedals!) and a no-hander bar hump - that's how you have fun when you've thrown it away. He will get his WC, I am sure.

Nabbed from Pinkbike with photo cred in place:

Ropelato crashed, BTW (as did the aforementioned blokes)

Mitch washed out on the first turn, similar to how Stevie Smith did. Loic Bruni also got a little sketchy on that turn. The commentator said that they may have been a bit too anxious out of the gate, waiting for their turn.

Minnaar didn't really muscle it any more than other racers, from what I saw. Looked liked his line choice was super tight and efficient, doing aero tucks in places to conserve energy, and squeezing in a few pedal strokes here and there where others were just cruising through. I like how the commentators were giving SC plugs, saying how Minnaar had the lightest full DH bike there, something ridiculous like 32 lbs (coil and single ply tires). That and his wisdom, the home turf advantage, and his athleticism paid off for him.

Sik Mik, again, was like a force to be reckoned with. I knew his run was gonna be amazing. Blenki likes it fast and wild, but he could use a bit more focus on efficiency if he wants better results.

Amusing that Minnaar gets all this glory and fanfare, comparing that to the amount of fanfare Rachel got.

Greg ran cross-country, single ply tires, and finished with a flat rear.

Yea, I just saw an article on that. I wanted to double check the weight (didn't find a source on it), but I did hear in a VitalMTB interview that he had a slow leak from dropping the rock garden near the bottom, and that the tire held enough air to the finish.

Just noticed - what's up with the ankle socks (peds?) on Stevie - is he headed out for a round of golf after his run?

Not shocked , I did kind of say he was my pick. it's home soil, and he has never been less than 2nd place there.

Graves is not really a shock, look at what he did a few weeks ago in Whistler, I am going to say that the Enduro final stage was more technical and steep than this course.

Rachel is kind of a shock, she has never been the best pedaler.

Stevie pulled a suicide no hander too.
