Hey fellow roadies, I live out here in the Inland Empire and it gets too hot for summer time riding out here plus I want to see other parts of SoCal. I am wanting to jump on the Metrolink train here in San Bernardino and ride it to the Anaheim Hills depot where I would jump on my bike and head for the SART bike path to the beach. Once at the beach I would like to ride down to Newport Beach and take the back bay bike path to the Tustin Metrolink Depot and boardthe train there for my trip back to San Bernardino.

Looking at Google Earth I see a San Diego Creek Trail/ Peters Cyn trail that will put me fairly close to the Tustin Depot.

Does anyone have any info of the latter mentioned bike paths are in good rideable condition and do they dump you near the depot?

If anyone has any info on this please share.

Bah, its not too hot. Training in the heat is good for you.

But instead of a train, drive up to Big Bear and hit the lifts on a mountain bike or do a couple of laps around the lake on a road bike. Much cooler and better scenery, imo.

Roadie Forum - and didn't ask for your opinion on what bike to ride where, specific road questions. bah - really!

I don't have any info on the Tustin Station - I go out of Irvine. You might give the guys at the Path a holler, there are some roadie guys that ride from the shop to the back bay and such and might be able to help.

I would take the Metro Link all the way down to North Beach San Clemente, ride the tracks to Tresels and/or up the San Clemente Singletracks or just stay on the ocean where it is cooler. Anaheim Hills is still to hot to ride. Besides SC is way more fun to hang out in and watch people.

You can do an easy loop of the route. Ride the Santa Ana river trail down the head to back bay. From there hope on the mountain to sea trail back to Tustin. Should be around 40 miles.

I occasionally ride the "mountain to the sea" trail from the back bay to Peter's Canyon. At the Civic Center park you get off the bike path and go North on Harvard Ave. (as I'm not a roadie I ride the Harvard side path) but there is always plenty of bike traffic on Harvard Ave. bike lane. The Mt. to the Sea trail is marked better than most bike routes, and in great condition.
