Here it is. Time to give some newbie love to the I.E. This is a fun route for all, although a newbie ride, we will do a couple variations for the more experienced riders.

Marshall is a fun area to ride. I had the pleasure of being guided by denmother and Roger and they showed us some really fun singletracks with stream crossings, rolling trails under lots of tress. There will be some fireroad climbs, but it will be not be any harder than all the other newbie rides that have already been done by most of you. Here are some images to give you an idea of what you'll be riding.

    The route:

    A group: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=350
    Distance: 20 miles
    Ascent: 3,500 feet

    B group: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=5586
    Distance: 15 miles
    Ascent: 2,000 feet

    C group: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=6337
    Distance: 12 miles
    Ascent: 1,500 feet

With the amount of cars expected, we will problably park at a nearby shopping center. Some can park near the park and other locals can park where they know best. I will work out the details as we get closer to the date and riders can link up if they didn't start with the main group. I would say to be there about 8:30 and be ready to roll out by 9am.

Sharky [02-26-2008 11:00 AM] - Yea finally in my own back yard can maybe make the start after work!!

Chris, what time do you get off work? You know the area, so you can link up with us at any time.

La Verne does not = I.E.

"Time to give some newbie love to the I.E"

Sorry, not trying to be a wise-arss but I don't think La Verne qualifies as the I.E. In order to qualify as the I.E. aka 909, you'll have to be in the vicinity of the 10 and the 15 fwy's and east & south of there. Just had to set the record straight is all. Carry on! ;)

Oak Mesa has plenty of parking! I saw the last picture and was wondering are we riding through CWP up to Potato?

The man speaks the truth! Marshall is in LA County...honorary IE?

    La Verne too

We here just refer to it as "The Valley of the Dirt People" ;) with pride!
Normally I ride this several times a week starting at CWP so hope to make this one glad to see a later time I always have jobs in the AM.

Any chance of adding Potato to add a decent climb?

There will probably be an "A" group ride that will include climbs that the newbs will not be doing.

i was about to ask that same question, god knows potato wouldn't be a newbie ride.

I kept hearing about a newbie ride here one day, i'll be sure to try to make it. It's quite a good trail.

there's plenty of parking at Oak Mesa School, highly recommend having everyone meet there.

Not really, but I don't think we want to scare the OC folks too bad and never have them come back out again. Fontucky is bad enough. Could you imagine something in San Bernardino - YIKES!

I'll let Mike(pain freak) or Nancy answer that. We still have to work out which route is best for the newbies and a route for the "A" group. You can always borrow a geared bike.

Seeing as I only own geared bikes, I will defer to Mike on this one. ;)
