The steep rutted out section on Camarillo @ LCWP (between end of Stagecoach Nix and Serrano Ridge) is no longer. It's been replaced by a series of sweeping singletrack switchbacks.

I have been avoiding that section because it always sucked so bad. Might have to add that back into my route.

I'll have to check it out soon also. Does it add some mileage to the loop?

I rode it last week. thanks to those who built it, its really nice and still a tough climb. Very tight still. Also there is a new / extended stagecoach section that continues all the way to willow so now we have more options there

Not much. Maybe 1/10th of a mile or so?

I wish they would do this to the beginning of Quail Trail too....

I hear you. That initial climb at the gate is not very fun on a SS...

How does it connect to Willow? Under the toll road?

The new stagecoach laurel trail is fun but nothing special. I was riding to avoid Camarillo, would rather climb willow.

I agree. It has a couple challenging parts, but a large portion of it is uneventful and there's a smelly mud bog half-way through from runoff off of Laguna Canyon Road. It's a toss-up whether jamming down the 133 in a few minutes was better than the time going through the new trail.

New trail going under the toll road is my choice...hate the traffic on 133.

That section of Laguna Canyon is sketchy... I used to ride it a lot back in my roadie days. Some cars got too close for comfort. Now given the choice between dirt an road is always dirt...

I actually like it (minus the bog)...great to stay off the 133, the 'micro canyon' near the beginning is pretty and new dirt is good dirt (still minus the mud)

yeah big surprise today when I started climbing up what I call 'Stagecoach South Super D' (I think official name was 'Camarillo Canyon Road'?) and saw the reroute. I liked it! Nice little ST climb. Can't wait to check it the other way.

I thought the other trail that heads to Willow was signed as 'Camarillo' at the turn off. I dunno, I'm easily confused. :)

Regarding Stagecoach Laurel - the bog has actually seen some trail work recently as well. There's now a little elevated portion with underlying bricks that will keep you out of the muck. Hopefully that holds up when we see some wetter weather.

Good to know. I've been avoiding it for the last month and a half. That was some foul smelling stuff.

Edit: Not to take thread off track further, but. . . .

Didn't ride the new Camarillo this morning -- guys I rode with did it the other day and wanted to do the Stagecoach Laurel connector. Gotta say, big improvement with the work that has been done on it. Will ride new Camarillo this weekend.

Rode the new single track this morning. I climbed it after doing stagecoach. Someone really spent a lot of time on this trail. It is fantastic and adds much more interest to that trail. Tough, tight, and steep switchbacks that have been reinforced with pavers on a couple corners (burmed for the descent) and a nice technical section in the middle. This is not a smoothly groomed trail.

It's a great climb and I'm sure the descent is even more fun. It's getting some good use and packed down well. A little rain would set it up nicely -- hopefully people stay off it for a couple days if we do get some tomorrow. Here's the Strava link:
