Bringing up an old thread and a sore subject. I just noticed that two weeks after getting this done I have signed up for the Project Rwanda 50 miler.

I might have to do the short ride this year. I will let my balls be my guide.

Dam it! I was setting up my appointment to have my procedure done in the next couple weeks. I am bummed if I am going to be off the bike for a couple weeks. May have to rethink this. LOL!

I must be special. I experienced no ill effects and very little pain afterwards. I was out on the town that night and played softball the next day. I don't recommend you do this, but that was my experience.

As soon as your wife goes through menopause, all those supposed benefits become a moot point. If she's not far from that demographic, it may be something to consider.

+1 this. I couldn't put my wife through a surgery, for procedure that really only takes minutes. I did give myself a couple of weeks just to be safe.

Go straight home, get a comfortable position in front of the TV/'puter and ice it for 24 hours.

Bags of peas seemed to be the best and lasted longer.

You will be so grateful that you did.

Recovery took a little longer for me. I took the two weeks off the bike. I can't believe some of you guys where able to ride just days after.

I agree with stay home for the weekend and do nothing but relax. I went to a bike shop grand opening the day after and my daughters soccer game two days after. Those things did not help and my recovery took longer. I had to stay home from work a couple extra days and even a week after the procedure, I still walked like I rode a horse for 100 miles.

when I had mine done I was chillin for about 24 hours but still went out to diner that night... wasn't that big of a deal (at least for me). I was back in the gym by Wednesday and riding by Saturday. I was also racing again the week after... My Doc said just to chill off the bike for at least 1 week just incase something "weird" happens down there...
