Julian Death March Saturday May 10th, 2014

We have decided to move our Julian Death March from April into May with the date being Saturday May 10th, 2014. This way we stay away from Vision Quest, the Rwanda Ride and we have a much better chance of better weather.
We will be updating our Julian Death March page soon and will offering early bird discounts.
    Stay tuned!

Maybe if you called it the "Julian Super Fun and Easy Apple Pie Ride" you'd get more people to sign up? Instead of The Julian Death March (cue Darth Vader theme now) Just a thought......and also sarcasm. Go get it Rox!

Ouch...in direct conflict with Breathless Agony ride...and the unofficial SART descent from Onyx.

When is there a date that doesn't conflict with something? MTB races late April, Catalina Grand Fondo mid may etc, etc.

I'd rather do Julian, although I will miss Breathless Agony.

That is a busy time for sure. Between the other MTB events and major holidays around that time (Easter in mid-April, Mother's Day in mid-May,) its a busy time. With that said, the SDMBA Archipelago Ride will also be Saturday May 3rd, further diluting the pool from which you have to draw for this event. As someone who recently had to find a weekend in that same time frame for an event, I sympathize.

That is more concerning than having a road bike event conflict. I need to get hold of SDMBA regarding that date for sure. I did their ride a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

I'll probably opt for the shorter route, being my first time this coming spring, and I've never done more than about 52 miles of mtb'ing in one day.

Between now and then, I'd be in for some training rides...in fact, I need them, as much of my riding lately has been shorter and/or shuttled. Post up here or in the "Trailhead" section if people are interested in longer rides for training purposes. I'm thinking maybe 2 long rides/month right now. I'd also like to do the Rwanda ride (it'll be my 3rd one), so this works.

I'm actually looking forward to this training. What's wrong with me???

I'm always interested in training rides. I am training for the Vision Quest already. You are more than welcome to join me on any of my rides. My local long rides hit up all the nearby trails, so plenty of places to bail out. PM me if you are ever interested.

Pat: Mo and I already discussed training together as well. Maybe we can all train together although all three of you are much faster than me but I can hang too....(picture the energizer bunny...ha ha)

Rox - don't worry about speed. I've seen you ride things I couldn't, and you definitely have my respect. Mo as well. Initially, I simply need to get my miles up. This is gonna hurt, huh? :bang:

OK, Well we are going to move the date to Saturday May 10th, 2014. Hopefully the weather will be perfect and we won't run into any other conflicts. Now you can do the Breathless Agony and I might even get to do the SDMBA Archipelago ride! Both would be great training rides for the Death March!
