I thought i recognize that trail, I never thought i would see snow up STT- Nice pictures. Happy new Years.
carbonlegs, how did you get to san juan with the ortega closure? pedal along the closed highway? edit: caltrans site now says 74 is open. Wonder if they opened it earlier today and didnt change teh website till now.
Riding in the snow and mud without a fatbike makes for a terrible day of riding and is just bad trail karma. Sorry I am grumpy
Hard to believe that's San Juan. Nice pix! I made the mistake of not wearing enough layers today. The wind and cold got me good half way through my ride. I expect to see lots of people out exploring tomorrow. Happy New Year STR!
I made it up 7 miles of HTT and decided to turn around. It wasn't miserable or anything. Actually it was really good weather. I'm more of a plain clothes rider so I was in a wool/synthetic long sleeve, wool gloves, and fleece pants. I would suggest riding in flats and waterproof hiking boots if it gets this deep as my single layer of socks were soaked through, but not uncomfortable. I still had a puffy, thick wool socks, riding gloves, another long sleeve wool shirt, and a waterproof jacket in my bag. Also my usual 3 ways to start a fire just in case of an emergency, but I forgot my bivy.
How was the ride Gabe? Got pix with Mr Strait? My dh bike is still being built. The guy building it is lagging (me). Haha.
