Made some speed optimizations on this in lieu of the recent performance issues. Might make this the new homepage later today if I have some free time. If not, then saturday.

george - again great stuff. (I actaully like the i've posted here partciulary when u post a tech/ride Q and want to follow up and see responses as these posts typcially dont get mass feedback to stay on front page)

also i think it would be way cool to have a thanked count next to the posts on the front page. sort of an ranking so i you don't have a chance to read all the threads at least you hit the ones the peeps on the boards think are good stuff.

i would still order them in time so nothing gets buried and i imagine the high thanks will get responses and pushed back up on the recent posts anyway.

personally i have missed a few and only after "digging" around found some killer threads like jfishes vid. that was sick and i easily would have missed it. anyway my 2 pesos

I disagree......some members on this board think that every post should be "thanked" so I think you will get a false sense of what is a good post or not.

    Just my thought.

Random green check marks on front page for threads I haven't posted in. The pics on the right dont change when the page is refreshed and all have the same title. Maybe its just me but thought id mention it.

Not seeing the random green checks. I'll try under my test account. The photos refresh after five minutes. The database call to randomize for every person wasn't the fastest so for performance sake I added some caching to it.

I have to add my request for a Social Group tab, or at least a more intuituve way of accessing them. Also, having the ride calender featured a bit more promenently would be nice as well, as right now the ride posts blend in with the topics posted on the regular forms.

As for banner ads and whatnot, please don't make them pop-ups or even worse, pop-unders. Other than that, the ads as they are now are non-intrusive and occasionally useful.

And behalf of everyone here, I'd like to offer my sincerest thanks for all of the hard work you put in to maintain this site. It is very much appreciated and a much-needed oasis in the barren wasteland that is the internet.

Just as long as the site is up and running, Im happy. Thanks George!:)
Oh and on the thanks. People obviously use it and like it. If its not there to see ( people appreciate a thanks in everyday life), well why even have it as an option? I could care less either way. Just my opinion.

I would still like to be able to get to my private messages by clicking on that box, even if I don't have any new ones.

I liked the time on the posts, instead of the elapsed time.

I like the I posted here stuff, but I would like to be able to see who posted last, so it's easier to see if I need to check new comments/posts.

    Thanks,

    ~Reed

I just noticed that you can not go to Your Pms unless you have a new one as Reed stated. I like to refer back to PM's from time to time for info about stuff I may have sent somebody. I sometimes forget to who and what I sent.

Hmmm seems like wasted real estate on the right, liked the 2 x 4 photo grid 1 x 5 doesn't seems as efficient. I like the I have posted here links bottom right.

I like the "I've posted here section".

I don't like the randon photos. Takes time to load and most of them are not worth looking at (Broken bike parts, boo boos, people I don't know). If you want photos I would rather have nice hand picked photos and they don't need to change every day.

If part of the reason for a home page is to draw new people into the group you should have a big "About STR" button. The site is intimidating for an outsider. Update: I actually only see the logged in home page. You might already have "About STR" stuff on the not logged in home page.

As others have stated, we appreciate all the work that goes into this.

Good suggestions. There is a bit more 'about us-ness' on the guest homepage but I also wanted to do 'About STR' tab (maybe take away the video tab) which will have photos, videos, etc explaining what STR is all about.

Somebody mentioned before about not wanting to see carnage album photos in the rotation so I'll go ahead and filter those out...
