    Update

Saw the muscleosketetel specialist today. He gave me 3 facet blocks and I go back for nerve testing next week. He said that he thinks the knee issue is not related to the disk issue. I will now be looking for a new Orthopedist to get a 2nd opinion. It could be a cyst or a piece of floating meniscus that is getting caught.

I see the Chiropractor tomorrow and we will be discussing my return to cycling!!!

I would say talk to Dr Wall at the Sport Clinic. I know you have seen someone else there but Dr Wall only does Knee injuries. That would be the only person I would see for Knee injuries there.

    Blair upper cervical care Chiropractors

Just wondering if anyone utilizes Chiropractors using the Blair upper cervical care method?

I am still looking to find the root cause of the disk herniation. I am going to go see another Chiropractor who practices the Blair upper cervical care method. He was recommended to me by Eric Carter and Kathy Sessler. Here is his contact info:

    Murray Galbraith, DC

43057 Margarita Rd. Ste. C-102, Temecula, CA

While I believe in what Chiros do and I see one once a month, to determine/find the root cause of you problem you may want to consult a Orthopedist who specializes in spinal injuries and deformations. They, for the most part, tend to have more experience and training in the matter then a lot of chiropractors.

Hope ya get it fixed soon. I am still waiting to hear if I gotta go under the knife for my knee. #-o

Thanks for the input. I will discuss it with the Chiropractor after my evaluation.

    Nancy,

Somehow I missed this post originally, and all the times that it's been referred back to and commented on. I knew you were having issues with your knee, but I had no idea it was this bad. I feel terrible for you and I hope that all of the therapy you are researching and receiving help you get back to 100% as soon as possible.

    2nd opinion

So, tomorrow I am seeing a new Orthopedist in Murrieta for a 2nd opinion on my knee. My buddies Eric & Rich hooked me up with this Dr. who does work on some of the Moto guys!!! It's possible that either the cyst or a floating piece of meniscus may be causing the knee problems. My gut feeling is that I may need another orthroscopy, but who am I to decide......

I sure hope they get it figured out. You've spent enough time as a spectator. It's time to get back on the bike and ride!!!!

Jacques Palmer did mine! Both of them. Incredible. Haven't had a problem since. Biking has definitely helped keep my back limber but one thing I found I really needed was at least 5-6" of rear suspension. Anything harder than that and my back starts to tell me.

On the first one I did all of the chiro, PT, epidurals, etc as recommended. On the second one, I just got the referral and went straight through to Dr. Jacques and I was done in two weeks.

    Nerve testing results

So, I saw the Neurologist last night and had the nerve testing done. Looks like I may have had the hernitated disk and the nerve issues for quite a while. That being said, I do have some chronic and permanent nerve damage that may be "arrested" by the decompression but will not go away. He mentioned something about having surgery to "clean it out" at some point down the road.

I do have some atrophy in my left foot and lower left leg but for the most part most of the wierd nerve pains have subsided.

I go to the Spinal Decompression Chiropractor tonight to beg getting off of "activity restriction". The Neuologist said I should be fine as long as I take it easy and build back up.

I am hoping to race at Sea Otter, I will just have to take it easy. ;) The plan is to get back on the bike and ride like the wind until 5/6!!! We'll see........

Glad to hear that the knee and back stuff are feeling better. Sorry to hear about the long-term issues and the potential for needing a clean-out in the future. That doesn't sound fun. Hopefully you'll get that approval to ride and can have fun up at Sea Otter.

    What's happening on 5/6?

I have a "loose body" Arthroscopy!

Did you have to wear a scholiosis brace as a child? I had a schoolmate in grade school that had to wear one for several years.
