Who's doing this one on Saturday? I'm heading out. I guess they just group everyone together by age and don't have any real categories. Should be interesting.

I am thinking about doing the shorter one (15 miles). I did the longer one last year and your basically do 2 loops for majority of the course and it is really not much to see out there.

What can you tell me about the course? I heard its just a lot of rolling fireroad but the 25 is supposed to have 4000 feet of climbing which is no joke.

That's about right! I did the 23 miler last year that turned out to be almost 28 miles and there was a ton of climbing! Looks like 3000 according to Strava. Here is the profile from last years race, http://app.strava.com/activities/45522929

It was almost all fire road but I thought it was still fun! I started at the back with my buddies and just kept pedaling. The second loop kicked my butt for sure!

    I say try it!

Robert is right about the course which is mostly fire road with a few single tracks. There is 1 major climb and 2 minor climbs. The major climb is called "White Rock Hill" which is about .75 mile in a straight line with an average grade of 8% (some part is as high as 15%+ according to Strava). The other 2 minor climbs are about .5 mile each. The first minor climb is more of a rolling hill but the climb out can be as high as 20%. The second minor climb is smooth fire road climb that is more of a gradual climb and it is about 1/4 of a circular climb. Nothing technical for all climbs, just mental impact when you see the first climb coming up far ahead. All you need is focus on pedaling, breathing and cadence and you will get to the top without any issue.

Sounds doable. I was concerned about 4000 feet over 25 miles but 3000 over 28 sounds pretty typical and I eat up 8% climbs after training up Mathis in my backyard. Should be good. I'm in for the full race. It should be interesting leaving with everyone, trying to figure out who you are racing but there is a lot of time.

I'm guessing that 1:52 time is someone pretty dang fast.
