Nope....as a kid I remember flying kites.....and often times I remember how they would get pushed in the wind and nose dive straight into the ground.

Looks cool....but is not for me.

Yes, ever since I was kid I wanted to try it. I imagine it's gotta be the closest thing to feeling like soaring like an eagle.
I find it odd that many who say they would never try hang gliding say they would love to try skydiving.

I would love to do it. Never have. Never really gave a lot of what I've done when it comes to stuff like that. During some of those things I would think "This is a bad idea" Afterwards I'm happy I survived. I would do it because of the views. Because of the feeling you would have being that high relying on your instruction and equipment. It looks really fun.

I wouldn't pursue it as a new activity. My dance card is already pretty full.
But if someone said, "Hey, Rob! Let me take you up on Thursday," then I would clear a spot on my calendar.

I looked into it once, I'd be ok trying it. The instruction flights start on a long gradual sloping hill so you are never far off the ground. They don't just have you jump off a cliff and see what happens. So that's nice. I don't think I would love it so I haven't actually gone and tried it.

I did in college way back when, on a sloping hill in san Diego, black mtn to be exact. It was a blast and was never up really high, maybe 30-40 ft. That's all I ever did, I guess it was enough.

Nope. Too high a price for a mistake. I make misrakes.

    I mean mistakes...

It's on my list. I love sailing, paddling, cycling and every other human or natural powered sport.

I think hang gliding is pretty controlled compared to other forms of flying/jumping rigs. If flying is your bag I think you'd be insane not to do it.

When you're old and unable, you wanna think back about how you didn't hang glide? The possibility of thoughts like that scares me shitless.

It's a funny pole. I myself have been flying them alot since 78'. At 53, still have all my arms and legs. If you want to give it a try, go to www.flytandem.com His name is Rob and he teaches at Crestline. The landing zone is the Andy Jackson air park in San Berdoo.. Tell him an Eteamer sent you. By the way, there is nothing like being at 17,999 ft over Mammoth mountain. That is if you like big air.

Doesn't bother me in the least to pass from this world without hang gliding or sky-diving. Personally, I've done enough other stuff to make up for it.

We took a beginner hang gliding class up at Dockweiler state beach. It was fun. As you can see from the pics below, we didn't get too high.

A good friend of mine almost died hang gliding in SB years ago, has a very graphic detailed story he loves to tell, has scars from head to toe, might still be paying off all the doctors bills for all I know... That being said, HELL YES!
