OK, I have to admit it: been mountain biking for over 15 years and never been to the Fullerton Loop... My son has joined a new team that practices at Fullerton Sports Complex and I have a couple of hours to kill between 7 and 9 PM. Are there any groups that ride the loop during this time? I would like to check it out, but it would be nice to go with somebody who knows the trail...
If you can't make it to a group ride do what I did and just try and be friendly to the riders who happen to be there and they will usually offer to show you around. The mountain bike community has always been friendly IME. I usually ride the main trail every weekend at least once. I have yet to take any side trails I've seen but overall the loop is a blast.
My guess is that you'ed have a hard time finishing up a group ride in time. If you left the sports complex at 7 am, you'ed take approximately 10 minutes each way to and from the trail. And riding with a "group ride" generally take at least 1.5 hours. So you would be really tight. A better bet may be to take a ride through Chino Hills, which is less than a mile from the Brea Sports Complex. You could ride up Telegraph to 4 Corners and back, Or ride up South Ridge to Bovinian Delight, to 4 Corners, and then down Telegraph. Or do whatever combo makes you happy for 2 hours.
I'd be glad to show you around one evening. I live nearby, so just about any day should work. What day did you have in mind?
Yep..just got a bike rack with my insurance check. Slow start but it's a start regardless. . How ya been Chris?
Weren't you also recovering from a knee injury? Glad to hear you are up and riding. Me? I'm just trying to keep our little STR forum alive and kicking with my clever witicisms. Not riding much, as life has gotten in the way a bit - all good however. Be careful on the FLOOP. More injuries there than Snow Summit - well, maybe not - but certainly close.
Yeah...never got it operated on but strong enough to ride..just no big air anymore. Great job keeping STR rolling!!!
