    Wow!
What, an incredible day!! Unclipped In, Desert Rat, & Casper; you guys were absolutely amazing! We cut trail non stop for 6 1/2 hours guys. We must have knocked out another 3 to 4 miles of tough trail. I can't thank you guys enough.

Un-clipped In, consider trail maintenance paid in full man! You know your way around a pitch fork.

Casper, I hope you get a chance to post those pics soon. Dude, you totally busted it today, great job! It was great to hang out with you. I'm so lucky to have met you. I hope we get to ride real soon.

Desert Rat, It was so good to see you again. You were the lucky one cuz you brought your bike. I look forward to hitting some trail with you.

Thanks for making the effort MadDog, I hope the Misses is doing okay. According to Mountain Bike Mikes Map we knocked out from Point B to Point D I believe.

I still need to get the last leg done. But If I remember correctly it only has a few bad spots (but really bad).

We all need to get some cold ones in a cooler and ride GE real soon!

You all put gold back into Golden Eagle Trail.

Great to be a part of the wreaking crew! I think it would be hard for people to imagine the volume of trail work that was just done by 4 people today. I hope the pics do the work justice. They should. Makes me never want to use just loppers again, seems like a waste of time, can't wait to get up there and ride through the tunnels you and the beast cut out. One more mile of ripping it on the bottom, and GE will be good to go all the way through.

    Hey guys,

Had a great time today clearing the path and getting to know everyone. What a great way to spend a Tuesday!

    On to the pics:
Before - hard to tell but the brush was touching both shoulders at the same time from opposite sides.

After - Fixed! FFW giving it a test ride. We cleared just about 1.5 miles or so of these very very dense sections.

    How dense?

It took three people just to keep up with Mikie.

    Casper,
    Awesome Pics!
I got a link to the photos, but when I clicked on it, it said I had a "pop up blocker" and went away. What do I do now.
Thanks for taking the pictures. I look forward to sharing them with Cathy . . . . uhhhh, never mind, I figured it out. Brilliant!

    Wow, some serious stuff here.
I've never been to these trails, but I'm inspired to change that now that I've seen the pics.

Mikie, how 'bout some closeup shots of "the beast", and maybe some tips on building one right.
Could be a game changer for many others to get some serious trail maintainence accomplished all over So CA.

Game changer for sure! I am thinking of setting myself up with one for sure. Before I witnessed "THE BEAST" I felt like an ant doing my little part and "toiling" to clear a path to ride. With the "THE BEAST", you are, KING KONG"! Mikie and I and 8 others (4 per trail), banged out 2 fully overgrown trails in 2 days (guesstamating 6 mi.). You walk of the trail with the satisfaction of knowing "you got er done". Awesome to say the least!

Great trailwork guys and pics too! I'm going up there tomorrow after school to do some trimmin'. Wife's still sick but functional with major pharmacutical assistance! I'll start at pt. E on MTBBill's map and work downhill with my hedge trimmer. I'll drive up Leibre Mtn road from Sawmill and should be there about 3:30.

The big question; who's riding Saturday and when?

    Thanks Guys!
I really appreciate that. I know there was a little controversy, but don't panick. I'm a Mountain Biker thru and thru, not Granite Construction. I'll post some pics of "THE BEAST", and I am willing to help on other trails. I love Mountain Biking and true Mountain Bikers. I have successfully transitioned it from a Tool to Compete, to a Love of the Sport. It only took 12 years! I really want to ride with some new folks and enjoy the trails. I really hope you enjoy GE this weekend. It still has about a mile on the lower section to finish, and the very upper that most people don't know about. But I'm gonna get that fixed too. Enjoy the harvest this weekend!!!

I have Friday (tomorrow) off and can prolly meet you there for your 3:30 session. The bottom portion above the rocky switchback is pretty overgrown again for about a mile - I'd attack that part rather than the top (top is so bad would be best to leave for Mikie's beastie). I can be there at about 3PM at Sandberg and will ride up from the trail head if you want to meet me. I'm just bringing small loppers/saw/pruners. If you have a hedge trimmer that would really be ideal!

I'll be there Saturday as well for sure.

Thanks for the offer but meeting there means another 3 miles driving on the road and I'd guess about a mile hike on that atv trail to reach the switchback. I'm thinking of just parking at pt. E and start cutting right from the road to get the most out of the time I have. It is bad in that section but the trimmer can make it a little better and besides, we can't let Mikie's beastie have all the fun! Looks like we can make both sections a bit more fun until the beast takes another bite out of the trail! You climb and work so fast you'll probably meet up with me before my battery dies!

Much Thanks you guys! This is exciting that we are getting motivated to take care of the trail. As soon as I get my front shock back from Risse, I too will get up there and and ride it and evaluate the upper section.

We did a QA check this morning, and I give high praise for the work that was done :bang:

The weather this morning was as perfect as it could be for a GE ride. No jacket required for the 8am start time, and it never got too warm. Just a slight breeze to keep the flying insect population annoyance factor minimized. I don't think I saw any deer flies at all. Maybe the hunters scare them off too ;~).

If we can get the upper section done, along with the section just above the rocky switchback, this gem will be shining once again from top to bottom.
