I was planning on trying this next weekend with a buddy of mine..we're both new, but in decent shape..I looked at Geoladder and saw there are a few hills. I'm trying to make of what to bring.

    1. Camelback, or can I just swing it with a backpack and some water inside..or jut get a cage.
    2. a tire patch kit
    3. Pump (I remember awhile back they had CO2 cartridges for pumps..are these still around)..I don't see a handpump getting anywhere the necessary psi in the tires by hand..or are the hand pumps now much better.
    4. I don't have a GPS, but hopefully there' a GPS app they will work..too many direction changes to remember..

    Any other suggestions?

The loop is hard to figure out if uve never done it a lot or street riding and intersections. It's not the most difficult by any means. Id bring a camal back or one bottle of water. A spare tube, a co2 cartridge and a multi tool is a must on any ride... If ride sat or sun morning and just ask someone if u can follow. It's always crowded and u can always use other people as a guide

Ride with the Mayor and the STR group Sunday morning. The group rolls just (depending on the amount of BS) after 8:00. They meet on the right side of the lot.

The FLoop is not evil, it is simply misleading. Tons of people of all levels, and so people get complacent. Just pay attention, particularly since someone has recently laid mucho soft dirt in many places. Treacherous it is. Dangerous to the unwary it will be.

I have to add - I've done the FLoop many times without drinking a drop; I carry water, one small Camelbak bottle in the cage, but I rarely need it unless it's 100 degrees. After all, the "official" FLoop is only 11 miles and under 1,000 ft elevation gain. I do recommend having the tube and pump, though. I've never actually had to change a flat on the FLoop, but I have had to change it after I got home. Once.

Be careful at the Floop. Many people underestimate it and end up in the ER.

don't let anyone talk you into doing extra credit the first time out. those are usually the injury spots.

either thursday or sunday's groups will take care of you if you can make it. DINO!!!!!!! is a good leader, and overall SWELL GUY

It was built on an ancient burial grounds and is pure hate.

Kidding aside, many of the accidents on the Fooloop seem to be way worse than they should be. For instance, I went off of a small jump. When I landed the front wheel came to a dead stop. I went over the bars so fast that I didn't have any time to put my hands out so I broke my fall with my face, Shattering my glasses and impaling one of the arms right next to my eye. I had a bruise across my eye ball and if it impaled a few cm. over I surely would of lost it.
Another one, my friend and I were riding along the train tracks when my friend barely rubbed up against a small palm tree. it sliced his arm wide open and he had to get 10 stitches.

It just seems like small accidents at the Fooloop end up being way worse than they should be for some reason.

Don't follow others - some of us silly people ride it backwards...and on single speeds, don't follow -- it sucks all up hill.

And I've had to walk a flat back in the dark from the school after using my last tube in the parking lot, much farther than you think...

so it's not one direction only..I can see accidents already happening on this alone..that one section where people are flying down..one of the downhill sections..heads up.

Thursdays seem to be the usual weekly group rides, Starts between 5-6 at the courthouse.

Thursday's ride usually goes at a faster pace because not many new folks show up. Just inform Dino and he'll adjust the pace
