I'll be out there again, racing XC sport 35-42. I'll be on a Tallboy LTc, in a Path jersey if anyone else is out there and wants to say hi.

You gonna ride too? I'm thinking of heading out there and shaking some DH cobwebs off. Just Sport course - nothing manly.

I'm not.. I haven't ridden for awhile and feel a little too rusty to dive into Fontana right outta the gate.. I want to give it a shot so maybe I can get into it during whatever the next series is.. if you're gonna be there, text me 714.697.6981

What a great day out there. Perfect weather. I got to see a few peeps I haven't seen for a while, shook off some DH cobwebs, got some exercise and even tried the big boy course at the end of my session. Too bad I ran out of energy, water and time - I would have liked to spend a little more time on the chunky rollers and drops that comprise the pro/ex course. I certainly needed the five runs on the sport course to get used to being back at Fontana. Run 6 was big boy course at the top, then transferring over to the sport course before the uphill. I was out of energy, and didn't have enough air in my fork for the death-defying drops of the second half of the pro/ex course. Excuses, excuses...

I didn't use the shuttle, just pushed up. On my first push up the hill, I was slightly ahead of Logan Binggeli and his manager Quentin Spaulding. Just the three of us pushing up the back side, so I got a chance to ask about his recovery and compare broken femur stories. I didn't want to bother him too much, but he was asking me questions. Very cool dude - and very fit. Also spied Aaron Gwin sitting in the Specialized pit with Rich Houseman and a couple of other notables. On another thread, someone said racing is dead - well the 350-400 people out there doing XC, Super D and DH practice didn't get that memo.

The Super D course looked like a ton of fun - actually far more challenging than the Sport/Beginner DH track. Even saw a couple of sick little whips (John Buckell).

Post your pics and tell your stories people! Plenty of STR people there (Eruizela, TWC, MonsterTiki and the FB/BP peeps, Denmother, Surlygal and the Incycle team among them).

Would have liked to have seen you Chris.. we were there.. I was on the hill for a few practice runs snapping pics of Ryan and then hung out in the parking lot.. I didn't see you pass by me while I was walking the course.. I would have noticed the bright stickers on the bike.. will look for you tomorrow.. BTW here are a few quick pics of my little guy during practice..

I hope everyone racing today does well and has a good time. I raced DH at Southridge in the late 90's as a beginner and am not familiar with the classes now. Is Southridge still doing Beg., sport, expert, pro, and clyde classes? I've seen classes broken up into "Cats" for races elsewhere and never familiarized myself with those. I think I will try a XC race this year at some point, at about 240lbs, I'm thinking a clyde class if it still exists.

Last place in my class after a crash, but I got a broken elbow to take home, so at least I got that going for me.

I crashed on the last rock on the track. Pushing hard on the wall and I tried to jump the two off camber rocks towards the end and stuffed my front wheel into the second one. I got up and rode the last 200 or so yards hard then when I took my hand off the bars my elbow no longer worked.

I raced my 2nd XC race, fun, nerve racking, exciting, painfull. Weather was warm, my crew raced DH and had 3 crash injuries.

Super D course was very good, DH was ok for beg-sport, Exp pro had a better split. Some knarly crashes.

Hanging out with friends is what it's all about, enjoying life and great friendships.
