Raced Xc today and got third! It was my first sport race and i havent ridden Xc in the last month and a half, well im happy, and the DH will be fun to watch.. It was fun meeting Pink Bike Davey, and watching him try to ride the DH Drunk :bang:
Needless to say, he fell pretty hard, i cant believe he even tried to ride with his broken wrist

Today was a great day for the races, despite a few puddles here and there the track was super tacky! I was hoping to get my 4X bike built and race today but couldn't get it done in time. So I decided to come out and give a shot at some action photos. Which I found to be very difficult!!! This gave me much more respect for the people that go out there and take photos the right way. 85% of my photos came out like crap, but it was interesting to bring out my SLR that I've yet to figure out. I did wonder off quite a bit so I didn't get a photo of everyone!#-o

    Great job everyone!

Got any results for us? Did Lee's domination of 4X continue?
    Race results for XC?

Super D? How did OBD (602za) do in his first ever race?

I dunno, as I mentioned earlier, the Mud was all over the place and didn't really concentrate on one thing. I was just bringing out my camera to practice. #-o

    You guy Rock:bang: Great Pics.
It looks like I missed out by showing up late. The STR family always kills it at Fontana. Now I have to try to keep up the tradition. When the new jerseys come in it will be like team STR.
Maybe Willie and I can make to Andy's B Day after my race. See ya later.

    Here are the XC results:

Allison 1st, sport women 34 and under
Steph (sdyeti) 2nd, sport women 34 and under
Nancy (denmother) 3rd, sport women 35+

    Justin 2nd, sport men 27-34
Andy (Andy aka Rut) 4th, single speed men
    Jeff (J_Sims) 5th, beginner men

I was only able to remember Path riders, but I know there were more STR riders out there for the XC...how did you do??? I have pictures that I'll post later.

For the record, Allison had a great race...reduced her time again down to 1:30! I didn't have her in my sights as much as the last race. She got me by a solid 3 minutes. I was racing my Yeti 575 for the first time...um, interesting to say the least. And as I knew, not a race machine, BUT I did manage to take another 2 minutes off my time, finishing at 1:33. We had a class with 5 girls so I think we did pretty well :)

A day of firsts and a surpising third

Yesterday I made my first trip out to Southridge. It was also my first race on my new S-works Epic and my first try at the Expert class XC. I pulled off a surprising 3rd in the 45-54 class. What a fun course; lots of swooping single track and nice tacky dirt. I couldn't hang with the likes of Johnny O'Mera and Dermott Carol, but I'm stoked to be on an expert podium my first time out.

Was a small men's beginner field for Super D yesterday--only three of us--and I ended up with a second. Was about to overtake the kid in my class who started 30 seconds ahead of me, but then I crashed when I took a bad line on the DH. Had to pedal like mad to catch him again. The winning rider finished about 50 seconds ahead of me.#-o It was a really fun format, but I was worn out from doing XC earlier in the day (a kinda last-minute decision) and from too much Super D practice and not enough calories before the race (i pretty much bonked on the ST climb above the pavement), so I know I can definitely improve on my performance next time.

The XC was an absolute blast. JSims, one other rider in our class and I were neck and neck almost the entire race. Alas, the only times I was able to pass Mr. Sims were the one instance he veered off trail on a downhill section, and then again very briefly when I tried to pull an out-of-the saddle power move on an incline after going through one of the cul-de-sacs toward the end of the course. I didn't have any gas left in the tank, however, and Jeff easily overtook me again. I held his wheel the rest of the race but wasn't able to pass, and he edged me off the podium into sixth place amid a small field of just seven riders. I have no doubt that if not for his busted ankle, it woulda been no contest between us. Still, i was pleased with my time of less than 43 minutes, and am more than happy i at least wasn't DNF or DFL. Now my only problem is that I'm dying to get an XC bike. The 32-pound Iron Horse ain't exactly the ideal racer. Anyone in the market for a trail bike? ;)

See y'all out there again in March.

haha 32lbs is light! My Chuba is 35! 36.5 with a saddle bag. And thats my XC rig.

I have future plans to build me a 45lb bike and try Super D on it just to give Maxwell some competition... haha:bang: But of course that's not what the bike will be built for.

Yeah, there was actually some shady motos there. One of the guys who made it to the podium was supposed to race Lee and I in our motos, but he'd wait for the next sport moto. I called him to the gate a few times, but he pretended not to hear me.

I didn't know you could do that. :?:

Regardless-I'm looking forward to racing with Lee and Ricky again! :drunk:
HUGE Props to Mud for snapping some photos. Those listed look nice and clean, dude!

Wow 43 minutes is pretty good for one lap. I'm still way up there in the 55 minute range. (But getting better) I'm almos afraid to see what kind of time you get on a lighter bike! I wish I could've gotten out there but I was at work watching a speech by a member of the Board of Supervisors. I looked down at my watch and it was just pat 10 and I felt a tear form up as I knew you all were out there racing and there I was clapping...because everyone else was!

Glad to see the pics, I'll be out there for sure in March.
