I know of people that have gone to the hospital from a speedbump in the parking lot. I do agree that we remove them or put in bigger ones with a gap jump!

In any trail no matter who says it's "NOOB" or think it is, It will have potential of someone getting hurt regardless of their skill.

    Absolutely !

I crashed at fully on flat ground taking a drink of water and separated an AC joint. I have also crashed there in crosswalk going 3 mph and ripped my knee up. There is always the possibility of crashing anytime anywhere.

I will never go down that hill!! NEVER!!! I have seen way too many close calls of people nearly getting tossed off their bikes and almost straight into the cinderblock wall. Nooo thanks!

We should set up a race with these !

Do they make a Carbon version with 6" travel ?

If so then i'm sponsoring Proraptor and Steve C as a race team. Charlie can do up the cars graphics with with Punk rock meets Newcastle theme.

Skipping 10 seconds of single track to best your Strava time is the Cat 5 equivalent of Pro blood transfusions. :):-k

I see the problem right away. Don't use freekin brakes on it and you'll be fine. Also why take that way down when there is some real fun singletrack at the start. If people consider this hairy those folks need to stay away from the San Gabes and Santa Ana's, hell stay out of the Santa Monica's too.

I see Pain Freak's point, and tended to agree, but having never ridden this trail, I wasn't quite sure how steep the slope really was. So I tracked it down in Google Street View. Below is a plain street view, and the same view with the slope highlighted in red:

    treeparksteephillfullerton.jpg steephillfullerton.jpg

For an otherwise fairly tame trail, it's a pretty steep little slope. It probably sneaks up on you as you cruise along with your guard down. Plus, the trail surface looks flat, and hard as a pool table, with a nice slippery covering of sand. It's an invitation to disaster; no wonder so many people are getting wiped out.

You can see for yourself here: Street/Aerial Views of West Coyote Hills Tree Park slope.

Yep, that's Tree Park and that little trail is posted. The trail is a little longer and steeper than most of the Loop and it's easy to get flying. When you get to the bottom your momentum gets you sorta angling toward the wall & cul de sac. I think that's where most people get hung up. I think it's a super fun little whoop that's easier when you run it fast. Then you get the little drop on the other side of the concrete to fly off. I'm certainly not "skilled" but it's awfully fun to hit. On one of our STR rides a few years ago, someone hit it at speed but when he launched off the end he got tangled in a low branch and just plowed into the dirt.

    I couldn't agree more.

Thats a badass idea!!! we can race these jalopies down this hill to see who KOM is on strava. Carbon, 6" travel, 29er, anti poop fling fenders, and riverbed homeless person bumper guards!!
