This morning I was riding five oaks at Aliso, one of my favorite and most-ridden trails, when I apparently hit a loose patch at the top of the trail and went down hard. I say apparently because I have no recollection of crashing - luckily the GoPro video says it all. I was riding solo and very disoriented when I came to after about 10 seconds of being out cold. a couple of guys came up on my crash, helped me get myself together, and drove me back to my house which luckily is a short ride from the top of the trail. R&R, (full names withheld becaue this is the internet) If guys are on here, THANK YOU again for getting me out of there. I escaped with a concussion, a few loose/broken teeth, and holes in my lower lip where my teeth had busted through. Had the guys not found me though who knows where I would be now.

Story time is over now for the good stuff. My brother put this video together wile I was getting stitched up at the hospital. Worth noting too that my carbon bars broke, not sure how or why yet.

Ouch, glad you're ok. My front wheel has washed out both of the last two times I've ridden 5 Oaks at a spot near the top in the deep sand, I think a little farther down from where you fell but in the same general area I think.

That was gnarly. Good luck on a speedy recovery.

And that slo-mo footage from the go-pro was awesome. Very impressive.

Things can happen fast out there! Glad you are OK, but now you've gotta watch out for cumulative concussions.

What carbon bars, just out of curiosity?

Ha, not sure why I even mentioned the bars since you can't even tell they broke in the video. Must have been my friend Percocet talking. anyways they were Whiskey No. 7 low-rise mountain bars. From surveying the damage it looks like my Kronolog remote took most of the crash impact and was the cause of the break.

Thanks everyone for the healing vibes, this is going to be a rough couple of days. I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck.

Damn Garrett that was some solid impact.. I know that impact all too well.. glad you're ok.. What happened to the FF? Do you not wear one anymore? I know it was a scorcher this weekend but after some decent spills myself I personally won't ride Car Wreck, 5 Oaks, Stairsteps or T&A without FF helmet.. again very glad it wasn't worse and luckily some folks came by to assist getting you off the trail..
