    Hey guys,

Don't know if you saw my message on MTBR. But I'll be getting a new Fezzari Alta Peak pretty soon. I wanted to show it here and get everyone's opinions.

It's got some of the same parts that you'd see on bikes like Trek, Giant, KHS and others.

I plan on riding this baby in Aliso Woods, Turnbull Canyon, Fullerton Loop and where ever my car can take me.

    The bike is about $900.

    Here are the specs:

Headset Fezzari "Deep Cup" design, black alloy with oversize bearings
Stem Aluminum 4-bolt, TIG welded, anodized black. 17-degree rise.
Handlebars XC mid-rise bar, 30mm rise, 590mm-630mm width, shot-peened anodized 6061 alloy, black
Grips Velo® MTB grip, black, double density Kraton
Brakes New Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic discs, 160mm rotor
Brake Levers Avid Juicy 3 adjustable reach. New smoother operating function.

Unless you really have your heart set on that I'd pass. Pretty low end components that won't last long if used regularly. I'm not familiar with the frame. At that price point I'd look at Specialized or Iron Horse. You'd have a warranty that you know is worth something.

If memory serves correct, This Fezzarri Co. was looking for local talent to demo their bikes in WallyMart ect parking lots , just a year or so ago. So basically this Fezzarri has no riders on employ already and or are not a company of/by , riders/former racers/suspension gurus. They are looking to sell a better spec-ed bike at WallyMart and toy stores. IMHO this is a entry level bike. Worth considering after extensive parking lot tests of the cometition available at local bike shops. The cometition may have lower spec on higher quality/better designed frames. Demo if possible.

I remember seeing these bikes at the Costco La Habra opening. Fezzari had a booth there and from what I remember the bike wasn't bad. The components were pretty good for the price and if I recall the bike wasn't a pig. We shop at the La Habra store often and I haven't seen the bikes there since the opening so it probably didn't sell to well.

If riding primarily Fully Loop, Turnbull, Aliso and not going crazy with the bike, it should be ok. The parts spec look pretty decent. But I don't know what type of support you're going to get from Fezzari so you might want to take Craig's advice. At that price point, you can go with a bigger manufacturer who'll be there if something should go wrong.

    Alta Peak

The bike should be here in a few days. I'll post some pics of it and do a small write up about it after my first ride.

    I just got my bike!

I took it out on the Fully Loop this morning. I have to say this is a nice ride. It's my first experience with hydraulic brakes. I used mechanicals on my Giant Warp. The rear shock is nice too, its a RockShox Ario.

Here's a shot of the bike right before Mormon Hill.

Let me know if anyone is able to ride the Loop on Wednesday mornings. After I drop my kids off at school I try to get out and ride.

    reflectors

haha, they work just fine...I know I know I should take them off. But I do quite a bit of night riding and keep them on for safe measure.
