I don't know about anyone else, but there's nothing like a good fall to really get me going. weird. I have withdrawals if I don't majorly eat shit every so often. which is why I say.... (see below) fear nothing... but broken bones and stuff... even then.. shit happens
so very true... I had to stand and take a pic of that. time to pull out the dusty records now. well this is a interesting morning!! fear nothing... but broken bones and stuff... even then.. shit happens
Depends where you fall, ending up in the cactus is no fun, take a tumble down a steep rocky slope and have to be airlifted out no bueno. Many of us ride where the consequences for failure are high. Now washing out because you are going to fast, that is just good ole fun, casing a jump and eating it no problem. Dean
Me?... Personally I will take a good frightening close call with a save any day.... serves all the purposes without the pain.
I am with you on this one. Many of us are at an age where it takes a lot longer to recover from a good fall.
I'm with Bvader on this one. Scaring yourself a bit gets the adrenalin flowing without the long recovery. Case in point, We are doing the 24 hours of Old Pueblo this weekend as a team. On Monday our team captain crashes on a jump in Santa Cruz. I don't have details on how or which trail, but the tally is collar bone broken on both sides, a couple of cracked ribs and a cracked vertebrae. Tough dude though, he emailed and said he planned on supporting us at the race, but I'm not sure his doctor agreed with that...
Despite my username; i hate crashing!Had a scare a while back when i went otb on a very steep trail and headfirst into the trunk of a bush, head was fine but tweaked my neck a bit. Had an oh $hit did i break my neck moment but just a sprain. scary tho.
Everytime i crash i think of the song by tool called parabola "all this pain is an illusion" Hop back on my bike and kick ass
Never been afraid of the immediate pain of a fall (never liked it) but the pain that lasts weeks and even months (now that I am 40 something) is frustrating. . . especially when it prevents me from riding for a spell. But, I guess this is what we sign up for everytime we roll. When I say, "Oh sh*t!" and get away with it, it is one of the many reasons I love ride.
eF that chit. i dont like to crash. a good save gives me a good rush. but a crash, with broken bones, and that gawd awful sound, half moaning, half struggling to breath, plus a splash of dying cat, you can have it.
