Went down yesterday on a decent sized double and broke my scaphoid.... Super lame, surgery next week and I'm down for at least 8 weeks. So no big bear race for me any more, and I already paid! Bummer! I'll post some vids and pics ASAP!

Bummer I broke mine and had the screw put in it 3 years ago... just completed CC on and SS so you will be back.
I (40+) was threaten pretty seriously my the doc to NOT risk falling on it until fully healed / cleared if you break / shatter it with screw in you will regret it... other will tell go for it.
What I did is get a back pack put a 20-25 weight in it and hiked a couple days a week with elevation and did my core exercise and squats etc.... didn't really lose much fitness and actually began to enjoy the hiking..
But was glad to be back on the bike when I was ready, after fully cleared and rehabbed I didn't have any issue.
    Good Luck!

Bummer.. sorry to hear that. I broke mine back in high school when I was like 15, went over the bars hard on my BMX bike. It happened the week school let out for summer break and I was down for most of the summer in terms of riding my bike, which was brutal.. I recall then it seemed like it would take forever to heal, especially being down during summer.. back in the 80's we didn't seem to focus on actual rehab as well as we do today either, so even today after all these years I still get some stiffness on rare occasions.. almost feels like mild arthritis.. do the rehab and heal fast!

Yeah there's a super d up there the end of May.. And I learned that I fractured it in Afghanistan but I never got it looked at so it started to heal then I re fractured it again so I finally went to get it looked at. That's when they told me it was still healing from a fracture when I crashed this time... Sucks... Oh well, thanks everyone.

Healing vibes! Definitely listen to your doc and do all the rehab as suggested. The scaphoid can be a tricky bone to heal, as it can be prone to nonunion and avascular necrosis (dead bone from interruption of blood supply). If one of those happens, advanced arthritis with fusion is a possible future!
