    hey guys !
Jaime here, well since i'm in a tight budget because family is about to grow as soon as next week, and really wanted a bike stand to work on my bike (simple maintenance, adjusting derailleur and stuff). I started to look on ebay and some cheap ones goes for $50 and knowing those dont last long, decided to try and build one from a you tube video, and i'm proud to say that after spending $42 including taxes at home depot, and 1 hour and 2 tecates ... it works niceeee !!

Awesome Jaime! I've been needing a stand for a while, and had a hard time with the cost of anything decent so I never got one. I just might take your lead on this and build one of my own too.

What type of clamp is that? One designed to be attached directly to the pipe, yes?

It looks like a Bessey pipe clamp, Home Depot should have this same exact one. Not knocking the DIY stands but I thought Park and Feedback stands were overpriced too. I got a Sette (Price Point) stand for free and it sucked. I built my own and it was OK but flimsy. When I got my Bachelors degree my wife bought me a Feedback sports ultimate stand and it has been worth every penny. I can't believe I stubbornly held out for so long, something to consider if buying or building. Just make sure the base plate is large the main support pole has good bracing or it will wobble when you're pedaling (like when you adjust your derailleur).

    EDIT:

I'm pretty sure this is the same exact clamp: http://www.homedepot.com/p/BESSEY-H...e-Set-for-3-4-in-Black-Pipe-BPC-H34/204986131

Also make sure you check Home Depot's clearance section. They have a lot of clamps on clearance in multiple stores I've been to lately.

thank you Pat for the props ! hey here is the link with the instructions, I used 3/4 steel black pipe, you can go 1" but the base will need to be a little big bigger, mine doesnt move at all and my speshy is perfectly centered, i has some wood laying around inthe garage that worked nice, pretty easy to do it, 1 hr i'll say and 2 beers most likely due to the heat inside the garage :) ... post pics of your bike stand, ok?

yes, thats the one, good eye destroyer, i forgot to put the clamp face up, to show the model (my bad) and i was looking for one, but really i really cant spend 100+ for a brand name one right now, and I used 3/4 black steel pipe its cheaper than galvanized, and i feel its pretty firm. glad you guys like it.

I pedaled at enough speed to adjust the derailleur and watch the gears going up and down and no movement to worry at all, but i will sugget to strap a bungee cord from the pipe to something firm just to be extra safe I'll say.
