Another cyclist killed by a vehicle, this time in my own backyard. Baseline Rd., a very popular stretch of road for cycling, one I use mostly for getting from my house over to Claremont Wilderness or Marshall Cayon. What's sad is this road has bike lanes and is very wide...not sure what the deal was in this case, but it's just another reminder that there is really no safe stretch of road out there and there is just an inherent risk built into riding a bike, dirt or road.

Its heartbreaking. You are right, there is an inherent danger/risk to what we love to do. It won't keep us from continuing to ride. All we can do is protect ourselves to the best of our ability.

Tragically there has been countless fatallties on bikes by cars. I just recently rode from Chino to Marshall and I took side streets to avoid the maddness luckily the only pain I got was on my perenium.

This sucks nontheless. I reflect upon this year and recall the funeral I attended for one of our own that died out on Palm Canyon.

Well, at least the guy had lived most of his life. I hope his family and loved ones get through this okay.

I live in La Verne and I have often seen people riding on the busy sections of Foothill Blvd where there are no bike lanes. Not only did they put themselves in danger but they also blocked traffic. Baseline or Bonita Blvd or some other side streets would be the better choices for them.

Nevertheless it is sad to see a cyclist went down.
