Bommer is on the LCWP side while Missing Link/Fenceline is El Moro. Also, once you go down BVD, you are in LCWP. The border on that side is Moro Ridge. For map of El Moro click here!

I rode LCWP today and the entrances to El Morro were clearly marked. They even had it posted at Ridge Park. Yet, I still saw A**holes ignoring the clearly posted signs. Even on the way out on Bommer, I saw a guy go in heading for Rattlesnake. I told him ut was closed. He made some comment about who's business is it of yours. Hope they ticketed him and the two others I saw.

As for LCWP, parts of were in pretty bad shape. Probably would have been better in the long run to be closed longer.

What does pretty bad mean? Muddy? Ruts?

If the trail was pretty much dried out people out there riding will burn new lines in and around the ruts. They will place rocks into the bad washed out spots and get it back into safe riding again. Welcome to after the storm riding.

IF parts of LCWP are in bad shape, the damage was from water flow and nothing MTBs will either improve or degrade... it's more from lack of 'storm-proofing' (as mentioned in an earlier post). I've ridden LCWP for the past two days (lengthy rides), and it's just fine.

True weather did some good damage, but that isn't really what I was referring to. Parts were still pretty muddy and MTBs were making a lot of ruts in the mud. Not blaming riders. The park is open. I even rode it. It is just that the muddy sections were looking pretty bad with a lot of different tracks/ruts being made through them.

    Just an update-
Crystal Cove State Park will be closed until Feb 4th-barring any more rain this week. We have to get heavy equipment back there to rebuild some trails that are completely demolished. If you are caught riding back there, expect to be cited.
Thanks for everyone's cooperation-we have had WAY less people back there this week than after previous rain events. I will try to keep up the posting updates with any new changes or developments!

Its pretty obvious when the trails are closed. Even if you try to get into the park illegally via ridge park-there are signs, many just choose not to see them.

    Anyway-heres the update:

CCSP backcountry will be closed until after Feb 15th. We are getting heavy equipment (read: tractors and bulldozers) to completely rebuild portions that are washed out. It will take at least 5 days of work before the trails reopen.

I have tried to get one central number for OC riders to call regarding trail conditions-but becuase LCWP and CCSP and OC parks have different rules we can't all be in sync.

FYI-its mostly hikers that ive been seeing disobeying the rules. Since Ive been posting the updates here-its been almost no mtn bikers-which we really appreciate.

Thanks for your continued cooperation and patience. When I hear the next update Ill post!

The park is still closed and I did my TAV from the main entrance off PCH. There was a peace officer there when I arrived escorting some hikers out that were parked at the school.

Maintenance crews are working to get the trails fixed so emergency vehicles can have access to the back country if needed.

Car after car was turning in to see if the park was opened. Once I explained why, they understood and ask where else to go. I directed them to either Los Trancos, LCWP, Nix Cente or Aliso.

Spoke to one of the rangers at Crystal Cove this afternoon. He said they didn't anticipate opening the back country till after the next rain that they're expecting in 10 days. Rode the top of Laguna Wilderness this morning and it was sloppy.
Times are tough at CCSP, they even stopped supplying doggie poop bags!!

Dogs are allowed in CCSP on the paved path along the cliffs overlooking the beach. Hence the dog poop bag dispensers at multiple locations on the path, (now void of bags due to state budget issues).

WTF this thread is confusing me. Laguna coast wilderness park is open correct? El Moro ridge is open? BFI is open? Please let me know because I plan on hiking on Saturday. According to the website the park is open
