Is that place still there off Sand Canyon? Across the freeway from Traveland? We used to do the "fill up your truck bed for $50."

    Free!

I have plenty of wood from a tree I had cut down back in 2002. You're welcome to have whatever you need for your trip since its just a condo to rats and spiders.

There is a place off of Batavia in Orange. It is in between Collins and Struck near the police station. Wood is pretty cheap. Or you could just chop down the neighbors tree in the middle of the night

Danny's post reminded me of another place nearby, VE Tree Service, at 2425 N Batavia St. in Orange.

I've used them several times in the past, and their prices are reasonable. I believe they sell in 1/4 cord increments.

Not able to help, but it reminded me that last year when we went to JTree, we took a little wood, but whoever stayed at our site before us left a big pile of wood. Nice surprise!

Any construction site. Just ask the foreman to take their scrap cuts.

Just be cautious of being within breathing distance of treated wood.

Also, almost all National Forests allow firewood cutting/gathering by permit.

Cleveland National Forest office at 858-673-6180.

True, and $20 allows you to gather 2 cords in a 3 month period. You may have to invest in a chainsaw too, though. $20 - $25 is also about the price of 3 bundles of wood.
