I took a pretty hard fall today in the rock garden on Rock-It. I've never fallen there before, I can tell you I don't want to don't again....it hurts. I hurt my shoulder pretty bad and I cracked my helmet near the temple, Bell Supers are awesome, highly recommended. Mainly I want to publicly thank Dave and Bob for stopping to help me out. I don't know if they are on STR or not, but thank you. They did everything you would want someone to do in that situation, they even offered to drive me home.
Yikes - I hope your shoulder is OK, and hopefully no concussion. I think we all think about the possibility of going down there while hauling ass. As we have all experienced, it doesn't take the most radical trail to produce some pretty nasty crashes. Did you have an equipment malfunction or just self-inflicted? Get some rest, and try some beer therapy if you don't have a concussion. Give us an update in 24 hours.
No sign of concussion at all...but it rang my bell for sure. It was self inflicted, took a slightly different line than usual and I freaked a little l grabbed a bit too much front brake and washed out. Beer therapy sounds good, I have an Enjoy By in the fridge and today seems like a great day to enjoy it!
Bob is bobzrag here on STR. He mentioned helping a rider out yesterday. Glad you're ok...rest today and let the body and soul heal.
I went to urgent care today to get my shoulder checked out. The X-rays came back good. It's a strained ligament or muscles. They put me in a sling for a few days and gave me some exercises to do.
Glad to hear it was nothing major. Hope the humulotherapy works wonders and you're back on the bike soon!
Your welcome and glad we could help out. Good to hear that nothing was broke, except the helmet of course. Get well soon and hopefully we will see you out there again under better circumstances.-Dave
Hey Dennis, Bob here, glad to hear the shoulder isn't too bad - I had my shoulder in a sling after crashing on Rattlesnake about 3 years ago - had to sleep sitting up, that blew monkey chunks! Dave and I were a bit concerned when you stood up and felt woozie, but you were lucid and new answers to basic questions. Go with the liquid medicine approach and hopefully you'll get back out on the trails again soon. Thanks for turning me onto the Kona Process, been reading about them and will probably take one out for a test ride! Bob
It's funny you mention that. I know I didnt get knocked out because I distinctly remember hitting my head and before I came to a stop I was already thinking "crap, I have to buy a new helmet." Now I just need to decide which color to get this time.
Yeah I really like my Bell Super. Tried lots of different styles and brands and the super fit my big round head the best. If you're looking for a new helmet and still a fan of the Bell, the new Super R2 fullface is coming out soon. Looks like the chin piece is removable when not needed. Gonna definitely check that out when it's available.
Glad your ok (..getting there)..I have a Bell Super also and it feels great (for big heads like me)..I took a spill a few weeks ago with it on also..has a nice fit.
Hope you feel better buddy! Switching lines on the fly can be tricky.....oh well...it could have been worse
