We were at the baldy rd and gmr fork I think, near the stop sign and the green forest truck or whatever came haulin ass up code 3 and almost drifted the turn into another cyclist or moto forgot which. That guy needs to slow the F down before he creates a second accident.

Where did you guys cut out and how much shorter was it?

We went down the southside of GMR at that fork. Ended up being an even 40 miles back to the car.

edit: 4 of us in the 2nd group did end up going on the original route though

Shouldn't that be 4 of them in the 2nd group?

I'm just giving you a hard time for bailing out of your own ride...

Mike, you thought Dizle was impressive climbing in that crazy gear? You should have seen him on the descents! I guess he's just working on his "speed skills."

Sorry for being anti-social on this ride. Had to finish and get back for the Chargers game. Made it home just in time for kickoff.

Great ride, thanks for organizing Dave. It was a bummer to see the fallen motorcycle rider. It made me even more nervous heading down the GMR.

Thanks to Dizle and my friend Joanna and Boingboing, we made awesome time and got me back home to witness another Chargers victory!

We were wondering how the heck you made it back to the cars before us!

I ended up with 44 because of my renowned navigational skills. I also took the shortcut and came down GMR.

Anyone think this would be a bad idea for a night ride?

That's pretty nuts.... Unless it was a small group, we stuck together and had a support car following us TdF style that would keep us from getting ran over by crazy drivers!

I'd do this as a night ride, mid-week would be perfect. I bet it'd be peaceful and quiet up there.

Ya I would be interested... the decent would be scary as hell and I'd probably take it realllll easy. And it would be colder that $%!t! Yesterday was cold at baldy village and the whole way down....would have been miserable without arm warmers!

It wasn't cold at all yesterday but i'd be up for this at night. We'd finish around 11pm though if we start at 6pm!

Night ride sounds fun but scary. Not sure I could get up there during the week in traffic. Would have to be a weekend. However, didn't you all hear about the cyclist that was chased by a mtn lion on GMR last year in broad daylight? Also, last time I was there the remains of a bear were on the shoulder of GMR. Does that all make it more fun for you all. The poor people like me that would get dropped could be dinner for some animal.

BTW, I finished the whole route and didn't get lost because I had the forethought to bring a route slip. I kinda had a feeling I wouldn't be in the fast group. Turns out I was right! It was a great and hard ride. glad I brought clothes for the downhill. Glad I didn't run into any cars like that moto guy.

Bonus post-ride shopping across the street: I stopped at Goodwill and dropped off a bunch of stuff and then bought some nice stuff in the store.

    It was a good day!
