You could probably write a letter and send it along with someone so it gets in the record.

    Be there and be heard!

I plan on being there... absolutely!!! Let's have an STR show of force. This is your chance to be heard regarding the use of this important biking park. Don't sit on the sidelines and hope that somebody else shows up.

Ill be there. I heard from my hero Gabe Zinc that the first B was filled in with a layer of dirt from a landfill or something making it unclimbable and stinky. I would like to know why this was done.. I finally was able to get up it and they do this what the huck man. Even Nam made it up all three once...

John will be going to this one as well. Last time he and HoosierDaddy were the only ones to attend--PLEASE support mtbers by attending if you can (or send someone to attend like I do) ;)

It's my understanding that the equestrians and others will be attending; so, if you don't want them to overtake useage/close trails/etc, you need to speak up!

PS This was also in my SHARE post

I have school and can't make this one, but like the others are saying... Please go to this meeting and show some support, if no MTBers show up then they think we are not interested in keeping the trails open to MTBing. Now is your time to get involved, don't think "well, somebody else will be there" because if everyone thinks that, then no one will show up. Please take a couple hours out of your life and try and make a difference! Do it now, before it's too late. When they start closing parks to MTBing and THEN you say wow, I wish there was something I could have done. Take action now, not later!

Rode Oaks last night, and holy sh-t, what a disaster the place is becoming. The first B looks like it's been carpet-bombed (don't know whether this is just the first phase of work on it, but right now it's destroyed and unclimbable). Also made my first trip down the rerouted Goat/Waterfall. I can't remember ever seeing such a poorly thought-out, and flat-out dangerous, trail. Also, the gate was closed at the top of the third B (is that thing new?), and the bypass to the right was locked, so you gotta dismount to complete the climb. Then there's the sandbox that the upper Barham Ridge singletrack has been made into ...

I'll definitely be at the meeting.

Anyone up for a pre-meeting ride Saturday afternoon (after the clean up at Trabuco)? I haven't riden there since the Bike N Beers.

I could be up for that. We should be done by noon unless after lunch we continue to clean up Trabuco. You going to be at Trabuco also? We should post a ride, sort of a Santiago Oaks trail assessment ride. :-k

I'll be at Trabuco, but I'll have my daughter (she's not up for Santiago Oaks, but does great trail work)...so I'll have to drop her off before riding

Trail assessment was just what I was thinking :)

    Just some constructive suggestions here.

Bikers need to make sure that the tone of the meeting is kept positive and constructive. It’s not a venue to gripe and point fingers because the group as a whole will not garner any credibility that way.

Bikers have been seriously lacking in these meetings and the group needs to earn respect and credibility just like any other group.

I have not missed one of these meetings in almost 5 years, and in those 5 years I can pretty much count on one hand the times that bikers besides myself were present. But in those 5 years I can also state with certainty that every single meeting had good equestrian representation. The equestrians have a genuine interest in many trail issues and show up regularly just to hear what’s going on throughout the county, state any comments and concerns they have, and they stay for all the regular mundane agenda items and committee reports.

Unfortunately bikers have a history of a complete non-presence until there is a hot-button issue that has garnered some anger, then they show up for a single meeting, hit their topic; then leave halfway through the meeting once the other agenda items kick in, leaving the committee board and the other public attendees with the impression that the group is not very substantive in their commitment.

This is an important meeting but bikers need to be seen as a seriously committed group, so please keep the meeting respectful and follow the decorum that the meeting demands since it is run similar to any public council meeting.

Show up on time…..stragglers tend to disrupt the meeting.
Once the meeting starts……only speak if you have the floor. People getting publicly reprimanded by the board for talking during the meeting shows disrespect.
And stick around for the entire meeting to show that you actually have an interest on trail issues throughout the county, and not just this hot topic.

If you are genuinely concerned about access, it’s not difficult to get involved. If after this meeting, bikers simply disappear once again from the meeting; we will simply not be seen as a genuinely concerned group, and will probably not be taken very seriously.

Please make the time 6 times per year to show your commitment to the sport and attend all the meetings. It’s really not too much to ask.

    Just my .02
