Nice post. I'm mostly a lurker on STR. Occasionally paths do cross...for example, I rode with your a$$ yesterday Dino! :) STR is the latest of 5 local forum-based bike clubs that I have been on over the years. The cool part is that a couple of the fellas - Pain Freak and STJunkie - have been on my rides since my CA beginning 7 years ago.

But back to the OP, yeah I'll be here posting and riding with more of y'all.

Im a mile away from the loop!

Dinno Dont worry I'm real ( if this post was directed at me). I just wanted to end the beef.Mark may be mad at me but friendship goes beyond petty arguments I hope. By the way take it easy on Ironhorse bikes. My first bike was an Ironhorse G-spot. I miss that bike! I think it had a manitou x-vert pro up front, and a 4 inch rockshox in the rear.

just wanted to chirp in from Long Beach or should I say the LBC!! Yep, another rider from the LBC, born and raised, born at Long Beach Community Hospital. Still lurking, since I have not made a ride yet, but in my defense I just signed up on the web site tonight. : ) I hope to meet some STR riders soon.. So far this looks like a real good bunch of people, I must say.. Happy Trails and hopefully all the fires are extinguished real soon..

    Del Cerro sounds good

Ya, I think making a ride at Del Cerro is possible for me, its the one in PV correct.. I rode there about 10 years ago at night, but have not been back since.. Well the back thing really killed my riding for the last 3 years.. Please keep me in the loop for any local rides, I would love to join if time permits. Thanks, E:beer:

I used to post more but became a lurker. Too many posts to keep up with! I am also in a hard semester in school. Once this semester is over and I start my internship and have some more bling bling I can start riding again. Poor college student status SUCKS!!

Just wanted to add my two cents to this interesting and very insightful thread...you guys (and gals) all seem very cool and this was a great thread for a newbie to the site to read!
Im pretty new to riding (only been at it for about 2 mos.) and all i can say about the sport is...where has it been all my life!!! I cant get enough of riding and the only thing i find better than heading out for a ride after work or first thing on the weekends is to do it with a friend.
Me n a group of friends started out riding at the same time and we would ride all the time but since then we have found it difficult to schedule group rides and will often find myself riding solo.
I met a real cool guy a week ago at Fullerton (Nomad) and we rode the trail together (he was on lap 2 and still kicked my butt). He turned me on to the site and so far its everything he talked it up to be.
I'm looking forward to getting out there and meeting more of the STR group and putting the days of riding solo behind me...thanks for the welcome and i hope not be too much of a lurker!

Just joined! Seems like a cool group, I haven't biked much lately due to lack of people to go with!

Plus, I'm just starting out and not very good...can anyone suggest any good place to practice near Tustin?

I sometimes go out to Peter's Canyon because it's not a very tough ride (well, for me it is!) and I'm not super intimidated by it.

I just bought a new Montague "Hummer" skinned paratrooper bike a few months ago. Reviews I read were pretty good and it folds in half so I can actually fit it in my car! No idea how to take care of it...any links or suggestions for some classes in the OC? Thanks!
