do to lack of funding is a 661 core saver enough for racing or should I hold off to get a pressure suit.

p.s I am fat & 661 is nice enough to make xxl, i am slow and lack dh skill. dont know if that helps.

I am also a firm believer in the you get what you pay for rule i know their are pressure suits for cheap, but I would rather wait then, do the old I shoulda waited routine. sugeestions? I cant afford Dainese anymore.

I just purchased the Core Saver and love it. As long as you wear it along with elbow pads you should be covered!!!

How is the sizing on the core saver? Last years pressure suits ran small compared to prior years.

    Skeletools...

I have been using SKELETOOLS armor for (2) years.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the product.

The double zipper is great! If you get hot, zip it open!
It weighs nothing! The torso pads are slightly softer (and more flexible) than hard plastic. It wraps around your body. Breathable. The pads can be removed. Shoulder blade protection. The hardshell shoulder pads are fastened to the main body via giant velcro patches. Benefit: You can move the shoulder pads precisely where you want them (up/down/right/left).

Three concerns: 1) With the shoulder pads attached, they are slightly wider than average gear 2) No padding in the stomach area (i.e. a handlebar to the stomach)
    3) While the mesh (stomach area) is strong, it is no match for misuse (careless storage, pedals, screwdrivers etc.)

I took a chance on this relative unknown company...
    Quite happy that I did!

Note: The Impact Vest IS compatible with Leatt (Neck) Braces!

I have a core saver - I am new to wearing all the gear and am very impressed with it's fit and lightweight feeling. I can tell it's there but is very comfortable, not once since using it have I felt any type of *This is too restraining* *I can't ride with this on* * get this thing off of me* *I feel like a robot* etc.

It was put to good use and tested a few times this last weekend (with my many OTB"S) I am VERY happy with my choice since it did it's job.

WOW, great minds do think alike. I'm purchasing a core saver in XL next week and I'll let you know how it fits. For the above chart you divide by 2.54 but you knew that already.

the core saver seems a little pricey for the protection it offers. i found it on ebay for $120. and elsewhere for a little more.

i picked up a rockgardn flak jacket for $135 on ebay shipped to my door.

For those of you that approve of using body armor, what do you think about using motorcycle gear? I have an upper body suit by High Velocity Gear that I rarely use on my motorcycle, so I'd love it if it'd be suitable to use on the bike as well. I think it'd be hot since it's already hot wearing that thing under a leather jacket on the motorcycle. Anyone here wear armor on a bike on long hard rides?

I would say it would work. I dont know anyone who uses full upper body armor for long rides. Most only use it for DH.

Yeah, it'd seem extreme to use it for long rides. I just know I want to do something to protect my body. I can't really afford to take time out from school due to injuries so I'm willing to feel some discomfort from being hot and looking silly out on the trail....I'm even thinking about wearing my rollerblading elbow & knee pads until I find a suitable set for cycling. Any tips of knee pads that I might be able to wear under jeans? Not for biking, but for the motorcycle should I decide to wear my kevlar jeans.

Anyway, I better stop screwing around here. I just picked up a bike today and I'm anxious to take it for a ride.

Methinks I will have a hard time finding some knee pads. The XL's top out at 18". I measured my leg 4 inches above the knee (as the site instructs) and my leg is greater than 20 inches :)

The Rockgardn LZ Shorty knee pads in Large claim to support 19-22". Has anyone tried these kneepads out? Or can recommend a kneepad for such monstrous thighs as mine?

I'm looking for something light and well ventilated. I wash out rather than go OTB, so I'm looking for pads that keep your skin in place rather than pads that keep your bones in one piece.
