Thanks J for the explanation of how he worked. I felt that it was a wonky deal from the get-go, especially after a few PMs were exchanged, so I never followed through with some of those enticing deals. Glad to hear that he wasn't doing that credit card scam.

Cycle -- I appreciate that you came in here to set the record straight. That is cool of you, and the right thing to do. However, as I lurk this thread, I don't see why the onus falls onto those who've ordered from you and not received anything. My mind sez -- Why don't YOU as the vendor in question go through your orders now, figure out which ones you have not shipped (there's plenty of postings from folks who've not received anything from you in here, as well as in other threads, I believe...), then ship to these guys. There is no reason they should have to work any more whatsoever -- YOU should be doing that part.

Get on the stick dude, and make it right.

    My two centavos.

Since he deleted the other threads, nobody knows who got there stuff and who didn't. By deleting the other threads, he removed the record.

By deleting the threads, future buyers dont have anything to refer back to, to see whether the seller is a good seller or not.

Basically, if you didn't get to see the previous threads along with the complaints, you would think the seller is perfect.

^^ I see. I was unaware we could delete threads at all. I can't delete any of mine. Perhaps that is a Vendor Forum thing only?...

In any case, I stick by what I said (for the most part). I think it is HIS responsibility to make right with folks who have already paid him (via PP!) without them having to jump through hoops themselves to finish things off. He's got their money already if I understand things correctly, so should have some record of that and be able to match his records against the monies paid in to him and be able to figure it out. At the least HE should send PMs to folks asking if they received orders, etc. I just don't think it should be the responsibility of the buyers. It is HIS issue that folks have not received paid-for orders from him, not theirs.

    Two more centavos.

Yeah, you got me. I don't know how you do sales interactions (credit cards).

But it sounds like you're the one with too much time on your hands, since you're not taking care of your customers.

It appears that our friends over at ridemonkey.com have also seen a consistent pattern of a complete meltdown of discountedcycling.com: http://ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=238434&page=12

It also appears that there is a wee bit of a problem with the website.

Yes, it seems that it's either a scam or incompetence. Which one is it "cycle"?

We cannot delete our own threads.....only the moderators can....except in the Vendor Forum....so yes, you can erase any thread in your own thread that you dont like, agree with, bad press, etc.

Hopefully he doesn't come back on this site with another name and try pulling the wool over our eyes , not the wool of his socks either because he doesn't have them... He will probably send me a pound of dirt socks if he is reading my comments about him..

mccong did you get ripped off by the sock guy as well?

Wait you are the guy selling the pound of socks? If so you claim all your orders are complete , wait you are very much in the wrong. you never replied to any of my PM's text messages or calls. AND I STILL DONT HAVE MY ORDER???

I like what you said SHUDDER and you are absolutely correct. I am one of those who have not received there order for socks. And if he is honest he will take care of everyone just like you said he should.

I didn't get ripped off. I paid him $30 through PayPal for a pound of Defeet Wool socks and immediately got an USPS tracking number. I read how he was sometimes slow getting the shipment out, so I patiently waited knowing I could make a dispute for my money back if he didn't ship soon enough. As expected, it took almost a month for activity to show up on the tracking # and here my socks:

    WoolSocksDeal.jpg

Not really what I wanted, they barely fit my size 9 feet (all size small), and the woolie boolie's cuffs fall and bunch up, but they're as described. Figured it was a gamble, but it's a fairly hot deal for wool socks.

Edit: Oh neat. I didn't know the grey stripes (harpeth bikes background and a stripe above and below the Defeet logo on the right) were reflective.

Edit2: Also, people who don't know how to order stuff online should do some reading, such as how PayPal works and how to use PayPal to safely buy stuff online. If people read the fine print/legal stuff (when it matters), they wouldn't get scammed so easily or upset over something mentioned in the legal disclaimers that they agreed to. If someone decides to get good products out at a good price, minimizing overhead and doing much of everything themselves, it's a shame when they call it quits due to not being able to handle customers that are hard to satisfy. Shouldn't we support this, being in America? If given a choice between this and buying straight from China or some robots, I'd choose this.

Edit3: It may be a pain in the ass to read legal disclaimers, but you don't need to be a lawyer to understand it. If it's too hard to understand, then it I typically don't agree to it (without further research), especially if it seems suspicious. Read 2-3 disclaimers and you learn the general pattern most businesses use and can skim through similar ones, so it can end up only taking 1 minute or less to go through it sufficiently and have peace of mind. Being oblivious is not a virtue.

Edit4: Sorry for the preaching in the past 2 edits, I was gonna delete them and mind my own business, but left them since I figure it may offer an insightful perspective.

Forum is gone and moved this thread to shop reviews forum.

Mike did have a pretty bad family emergency but its still unfortunate how things turned out. If you paid for something and haven't got your stuff or a refund then like others say . . . try and take it up with Paypal. If there's something I can help with let me know.

My lesson learned: lesser known companies should have some sort of probation period before getting their own vendor forum no matter how enthusiastic they are 8-[
