    1) grade 2 AC tear right shoulder
    2) clean break of metatarsals 2,4,5. Shattered 3rd metatarsal.
    3) shattered distal end of ulna.

June 17th 2013. Glen Helen Raceway. 25 minutes into open practice, I came over a blind hill. I had the bike layed over pretty good in a scrub. What was waiting on the other side? An overturned quad. Lovely. Tried to avoid it, no dice. Left foot stayed on peg, toes caught the quad and got pulled down. Crunch. Ejected from bike, arms out. Impact. Shattered right distal ulna, torn right AC joint. No loss of consciousness. Not even a scrape on the lid. Hopped up and ran off the course. Sat on a hay bale and took inventory. Didn't look good, so I loaded up and drove home. Got home, and waited for the little lady to get off work to take me to urgent care. A few hours and some x rays later the doc sent me to Ortho to get "set" and splinted. Manually set the arm, splinted me up and sent me home to wait for a call from the specialists. 9am the next day I had a consult with 2 surgeons. It was much worse than i expected. Open reduction and internal fixation via plates and screws for the wrist. Open reduction external fixation via 4 pins driven from the tips of the toes to the heel, and 3 pins driven vertically into either side of the shattered area of toe 3 and held steady with some nifty hardware. Big toe got away unscathed . Surgeries were scheduled. Wrist for June 21, foot June 28, shoulder was to be left to heal on its own. It's now almost 3 months later. Wrist is 2* away from "normal" movement in 2 directions. The rest are within spec. Working on regaining strength. Shoulder feels great, normal range of motion. Last Thursday the 12th of September I had all the hardware pulled from the foot. I've been put in a hard cast for 3 more weeks. In 3 weeks ill be put into a boot and should be allowed to walk again. I hope to be pedaling with the funny boot in early October and back on the moto by 2014.

Glad to hear you're on your way back to normal.

It's amazing how much medicine had advanced. In '84 I broke my 2 - 5 metatarsals in a crash on my YZ-250. I'll never forget the doctor saying that in a decade or two he'd be able to fix them but for now, there was no practical surgical fix. To this day, it feels like I have little (OK, huge) stones on the bottom of my feet when I walk barefoot. Even sandals suck.

Weirrrrd. I broke 2-5 on my yz250.... F. Haha, advancement in 4 strokes. Are you considering gettin yours fixed? My surgeon gave me the option of not getting surgery. But he said in 10-15 yrs I'd be back to get it done anyhow.

Hmmmmm. Never thought about it. Not so sure this old body wants another surgery and the down time.

Thanks! Yeah. Newish tech 10's, shoei, upper body armor, padded shorts, and a neck brace. Those boots can only protect so much I guess. Who doesn't wear boots on a track?!

Little update. October 3rd the leg cast came off and I was cleared to walk. Almost 3 weeks later and I'm limping around. Played 18 holes of mini golf. Gettin back at it.

    Back on the bike.

I can't stand, but I can ride a bit. Only street cruising, but my doc and therapist think pedaling is a great idea. :bang:
Been cruising my Santa Cruz, and just picked up a trek 29er.

glad to see you are healed enough for light activity, and congrats on the bike! Might want to wait till the foot is completely healed before taking any sweet jumps ;)

agreed. Two weeks ago any bump to the foot was excruciating. Now I can stand up on the bike and drop off 1" steps. Yes,1". But it's progress. Walking almost normal now, but very slowly working on proper form. I can walk quickly but my bad foot tends to toe out and drift from my midline.
