It was great to revisit an old friend today. Oh, and it was also great to ride with dcrfx (Dave) too. My usual riding buddies don't really like 5-Oaks, and I'm not a fan of riding challenging trails by myself, so I rarely get to ride 5-O. It is still probably my favorite (legal) trail in Aliso. Right now, it's pretty interesting - very loose at the top and pretty chopped up. However, somebody (Ryan?) did some great berm work on it to let us keep some flow.

I haven't ridden with Dave in months - maybe a year - and it was fun to chase somebody down who rides fast and aggressively. I wanted to see how that Canfield The One was treating Dave on the downs, so I stuck to his wheel through the first rock drop on 5-O, but when I hit Garrett's Corner, it was so loose and rutted that I went off trail a bit and pulled a foot out. Buh, bye Dave! I couldn't catch the old geezer the rest of the way . The trail has changed a lot since I rode it in February, but it's still great - rough and steep in places, yet flowy with a few small drops.

After that we did the trudge up Cholla and the ridge to Top of the World and over for some flowy fun on Meadows. Dave put a gap on me about half-way down that I couldn't close. So fun to chase somebody down that hill instead of being chased.

That's all. No pics or epic stories. Just felt like writing about riding. Thanks for the company today Dave! Let's do this again.

Thanks for the invite Chris, good times... been hard to get motivated with the heat, humidity and torn up powdery trails, so just what I needed. Now if I could just keep you in sight on the climbs...
