You wouldn't have drivetrain issues if you rode a SS.........er nevermind. Way to overcome the speedbump and pull it out.

years passed I would just ride up Trabuco Creek Road and hit WHT fresh, but that’s the opposite of how you feel when you get there on VQ!

Man did I learn this the hard way this year. I completely crumped on WHT despite having "trained" on it several times...live and learn and I'll be using your approach next year. Nice job!

Ahh, come on Jay...if you logged on more than once a year you'll see I have other topics of interest. <winky face>

I showed a guy how to use his CO2 cartridge today at Oaks; I think I'm back in Karma's good graces...happy??

Until you attempt a ride w/o shuttling Donny, you can eat my shorts!!!! (LOL)

Sorry late for the party. I just want to thank Angelika + Preston Drake and the rest of society members for their hard work to make it happen. See you all next year.

p.s. I picked up an Oakley black frame, blue / red lenses during the event. It was well before Motorway - sorry I can not explain exactly where it was. Turned it into a Society member after the race. Not sure if it has been claimed already; if it sounds like yours, then contact them.

This got me thinking. I know last year there was a threat from UCI about riders participating in non-sanctioned events. US Cup and Sho-Air, to name a few, protested and this enforcement was put on hold for 2013. I wonder if Tinker didn't ride this Pow Wow due to this rule being enforced this year? Too bad if this was the case. I think events like this and big names showing up is a great way to promote the sport.

That said, GREAT JOB EVERYONE! I wish i could've joined you, but, you all completed what i wasn't physically or mentally capable of. You are all awesome!

BTW, why is this in Racing and Training if this isn't a race? hmmmmm... :-k

But, was the endurance event a sanctioned event? I wonder if he had a choice.

It was a US Kenda Cup Race....and considering it is run by Cannondale.....it was a no brainer why none of their guys did VQ this year.

I think for some, it is a race. For others, it's a journey. If you read through the RR's, you can see the difference in the write-ups of the racers and the journey-peeps. I like that it is both. It's kinna special that way.

    Very true

The club will always refer to VQ/CC as a "timed event" as it's definitely about the personal journey first and finishing time second for the majority of the field. I remember my first year doing the CC, a finishing time wasn't even on my radar, I was just hoping to complete a ride of such magnitude. The following year, same thing regarding VQ. After finishing both, then it became a quest to set PRs each time but still it will always be about the personal journey first for me. Even most of the top guys would acknowledge the journey as contributing to the uniqueness of the event, and at the end of the day, there's only a handful of riders capable of finishing first anyway!

I finally finished editing down my GoPro footage last night. I ended up missing the very end as my battery died as I crossed the line at the trailer (about 40 yards from the archway).

And yeah, I realized this morning I left the "s" off Warriors. My bad.:lol:
