I will not be posting until the LAST possible moment! And I have to go find a scale - new hotel doesn't have one in the gym, the hotel we move to on Monday does...

had a great week. only 2.2.lbs off my target weight, but I'll take it. 152.2 should keep me in the top 10 right?

Good thing I did that before the French Toast for breakfast, bacon cheeseburger for lunch and ribeye kabobs for dinner...told you this was going to be a bad weekend.
This year was passionless for me, just couldn't get into it...maybe next year I'll pay to play and have a reason to get motivated.
Congratulations too everyone that put in any effort, it's a win no matter what!

Lost a bit of weight, but work and general stress kept me from really hitting it. And now I will pay for it by having to stand around for 5 days at Anime Expo. Don't cry for my knees; they're already dead.

A vacation during the next to last week of the WLC didn't help, but I still managed to drop a reasonable amount overall, and I definitely feel better. I'm really glad I participated in the WLC and it definitely helped motivate me to push a little harder and be a little more disciplined.

Now the trick will be to continue the trend. Injuries and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle in my 30's and early 40's led to me gain about 3 pounds per year. Then I took up mountain biking; the weight gain stopped and eventually I dropped about 10 of those lbs. As I approach my 50's (gulp), my goal is to find a fit, healthy balance - not as rail-thin as I was in my 20's, but not the slug I felt like at 40. I'd still like to drop another 10-15 lbs, but my focus isn't on the numbers as much as on overall health and fitness.

Good luck to everyone going forward. Let's hope none of this year's participants feel the need to do it again next time because they're already in the best shape of their lives!

Final ride finished, last cheater post-ride weigh-in done!

Now, like Waldo noted, comes the hard part. It seems I need a goal to continue, and not just a weight goal. The WLC is a good motivator, but right now I'm at about the same weight I was when I finished the WLC two years ago. I could go into all the reasons I gained weight, but none of them really matter. So my first goal is to compete the second half of OTH at 205 or less. Then I'm going to compete (or at least enter and attempt) my first triathlon this fall, at under 200. I hope that getting under 200 will be a real motivator, and a hard stop should I start to gain again.

Hopefully those goals will keep me from going nuts during upcoming holidays and vacations. Summer vacations always seem to mark the end of any weight loss for the year. By the way, my final weigh in is 100 pounds less than my max weight of five years ago. Pretty happy about that, now I just have to keep it up.

Good luck to everyone keeping it off!

So it's a week later....how's everyone doing? Sticking to your guns, or did you take a swan dive off the wagon?
Or has The Blerch won? Check out this awesome comic from The Oatmeal for the explanation of that, and maybe a little inspiration too.
(I definitely fight The Blerch every day)

I'm happy to say that yesterday's weigh-in was my best yet, and that today I got to visit a notch on the belt that has not been my friend for a couple years. They've been baby steps; I'm still not down as much as I'd like since the official WLC start, and only about 20 lbs off from my hideous all-time high some years back. But they are steps, and in the right direction, so I'll keep taking every one I can. Hope you're all making progress too!
