Like I always do, I've played it and then replayed it and then watched it again and Cav is so busy looking behind him that he doesn't keep a straight line. Personally, I don't think he was even aware of where Thor was.
He just wobbled off his line like an amateur.

Read this about people's opinions on what happened to George. Also the RBR thread Burner posted.

I think Bruyneel is a shit-starter. I feel you can read between the lines of everything he says.
He'd probably love to see those two teams implode in on each other!

I'll be up at 6 watching tomorrow! Then a ride down the path in the cool beach weather!!

So much for people having a sense of humor. Lighten-up, Foo. It was meant in fun and light-hearted. I too enjoyed seeing the kid put his guts into the stage win. What has happened to people's sense of humor around here?
    WTF!?!? :?:

Back to the tour drama. Things are just getting interesting...

Well, the answer to that question is obviously a long way off. It will be interesting to see who comes out of the younger ranks to challenge him. I don't believe anyone currently at the top can challenge him, but give Martin a few years and he might. Time will tell.

But yea, I expect him to win a few tours. Great ride today.

If you caught LA's interview post stage, there is no doubt in his (or our) minds on who's winning the tour this year. As he said, "I've already got 7 tour wins." Sounded more like a concession speech to me. Regardless, his current tour standing is beyond impressive and shatters all odds and expectations. Win or lose not the point. It's an admirable and motivating effort by him.
AC can climb like a goat and does dance on his pedals...literally!

If there was any questions, Alberto answered them today. Talk about a pure climber. Truly fun to watch. For the most part I think we only have to guess who will be third. I'd have said Levi but now I don't know. So many to pick from. It'd be something to see an Astana sweep.

Still there's a lot of climbing left to do and to keep the level up to what they rode today I don't think it can happen but this is turning into one of those special sporting events that people will talk about for years.

And Joe would you quit crying about people not having a sense of humor, waa, waa, waaa.;)

LA said in the interview that they now know who is their strongest rider.....AC.

But anything can still happen, I'd love to see Lance win his 8th tour! Damn AC really handled it with that last sprint though

My gut tells me he will be dropped in the mountains.

It's a mental game and he is the master.

my bad couldnt tell your tone on the intraweb; everyone's sense of humor on this site went out the door a long time ago

As far as Lance is concerned AC showed his dancing shoes and no one could keep up. Kloden had to hang back to pace LA up the mountain. Unless AC effs up like he did on one of the spring classic and forgot to eat in his youthful exhuberance he should continue to wearing the yellow jersey. LA is a great tactician but that only gets so far he'll needs legs to keep up w/ AC

Lance is a great time trialist and if he doesn't make time there over the Schlecks then I say his Tour will be a top 5. I don't see him on the podium if his climbing is anything like it was on Verbier.

Lance did a great job of catching up to AC today. I think he surprised many riders/commentators on that feat. Maybe Lance is sandbagging.

Was checking out the Stage 17 route summary at Livestrong.com (link here). One thing I'm not sure of is total elevation ascent of 34,619'. Is that for real?! I know these guys are animals but I cannot believe they did a 100 mile ride with nearly 35,000' climbing. Adding up the 5 passes from the elevation profile I get around 13,000', which seems more reasonable.

God of Thunder Lets His Legs do the Talking.

After Cavandish whinned that Thor's Green Jersey was stained because of lost points when he was relegated following the Besançon stage Hushovd showed Cav what a great all around rider he is. Thor led this year's most difficult stage most of the way and took top points in the two intermediate sprints. Intermediate sprints seem to be beneath Cav, but this is the way most Green Jerseys are won.
