Thank you for your reply. Knowing that you know course design, I was actually wondering if it was intentional to make the course that way. As you know, that's generally the opposite for BMX tracks, where there's more of an opportunity to do hi/lo passes. I suppose the key difference is the 4 vs 8 rider count.

For others, I didn't intend on my comment to be interpreted as negative - just an observation. The "take-out" passing makes for exciting racing. It does make this type of racing more exciting, but it also increases the danger, which is also why it can be more exciting for spectators (and TV?). I'm glad EC commented that it was intentional.

It should make for exciting racing this weekend!

Anyone have any info on the Super D course? Was it already marked today? Time trial or mass start? Thanks.

The few SuperDs that I did last year were LeMans start, despite descriptions detailing otherwise (just at Sea Otter and Bonelli). Not sure if that's changed, I'd be prepared for it though.

Can't help you with the course markings; I'm still trying to find out if the Cat1/Pro course is marked along with the Cat 2/3?!?!?!?

When is the race? I'd suggest getting there early, possibly tomorrow, to check it out. I thought SuperD usually had a practice time?

How gnarly is the super d course? I was told the downhill for the cal state is big for a nomad unlike fontana. I have a 36 lbs bike and dont wanna bother super d if its a CC super d. Also I have no spandex in my gear!

Fun XC race. I took 2nd, dislocated 1 spanked me and took 1st. Not a SS course at all. It was walk up the hills, coast down the hills, and get passed by everybody on the flat that you passed on the downhill. Woody in cat 2 clyde had the best idea...vans, flat pedals, 32/17 29'er. When I asked why the flats and crazy gearing? "I plan on running up the hills and its easier/faster to get off on flats and run in tennis shoes plus I can carry speed on the flats with this gear." He took 3rd and like me was beat by geared bikes. I gave it all I had so im happy with second but will have to work harder next time.
