I went out late this evening and soon had to ride using my lights. If you are inclined to do a night ride; tonight was the best. The waxing full moon was out early and high in the sky when darkness took over AKA 7:15 PM. I always pick a theme for each evenings ride, and tonights ride was the ride of the fire eyed trail bird. The night hawks were out and I saw so many I lost count. I love how my lamp makes their eyes shine fire red orange. They seem to congregate on the trail when the full moon is out. Other sights were a peregrine falcon disturbed by my lamp and left its perch flying into the darkness. I saw two other solo night riders on the trails as well, one a mile to the north and one to the south. Soon we will not be the only ones out in the dark but until then "We own the night".

I was thinking on this ride that the next waxing full moon may come after the rains had started. Not much of a guess, but I did not want to jinx it just in case
