I struggled initially with the steeper jumps at ss until I decided to stop and session the jumps. It kind of sucked initially, I had to Hab back up which kills your energy and flow. However, after a few attempts, you get the feel and speed, you'll go faster, get more confident and eventually clear it. I've done this with the 650b, the 22, and the 3 jumps after the wall. Now my goal is a completely smooth clean run all the way down. Good luck!

Hey guys, I had a question. I wanted to go to SS before the season was over and i was wondering, how difficult are the trails there? Ive seen videos, but we all know videos aren't really great at showing the difficulty of the trails. I can't jump to save my life, but i am pretty confident with everything else.

The place I normally ride is El Prieto if that helps in gauging my skill level. I did go to Santiago for the first time yesterday and rode Coachwhip and Chutes Ridgeline pretty easily. Do you think ill be fine at SS? Any tips for a first timer there? Thanks

Take the first run slow and gauge all the jumps.

I don't think ill be doing any of the jumps, (maybe if i get some flats before). For some reason being in the air scares the crap out of me.

Sidenote: Anyone in the North OC area want to teach a noob how to jump on a mountain bike? Lol

Everything there can be rolled straight over without issue, if I remember correctly. No "required air". Lots of fun to be had even if your wheels never leave the ground.

Yup Yup, everything can be rolled or a bypass can be taken. I took my gf up there last weekend and she rode park and didn't have to walk anything. It was her 4th time on a mtn bike.

Don't listen to these people . . . you're supposed to show up and be able to hit everything there. No trying, learning, or progression allowed. Go big or go home!!!

Are there any chunky rocky parts? I feel like id have more fun on that than getting any air time

Miracle Mile is much less of a flow/jump trail and more technical w/ rocks, steeps, tight turns, etc. It's fun.

I got to go today, and it was probably the most fun I've had on my bike in a while. I really need to learn how to jump though. Lol. Miracle Mile was my favorite

I really liked Big Bear, but the more I think about the 2 hour drive there, the two hour drive back, and the admission ticket as well as gas price... I feel like I can get more "butt pucker" on trails around here. Maybe I am getting old, texting Herz too much, and just overall being lame, but I could only do jump lines so much. Even in Whistler, after Crank it Up, Freight Train, and A-line I was excited to get on technical trails.

(I am probably just trying to justify that I like technical trails so I have an excuse of why I am going so slow over features)

When the tech trails come in - please ignore the drive and gas cost comments, haha

If you are worried about t storms, I wouldn't go, you never know when the report is showing possibility of t storms.

Also there's only about 2 1/2 trails up there.
