Exactly. Its incredibly well built especially considering how new it is. Once it "clicks" every jump line works out to be super smooth and fun, not to mention safer.

Unless things have changed it's a single set of bike trays. They don't really use them either, they did the other weekend a few times.

Yeah it is just a single test chair. They are hoping to do them next year but I guess it depends on funds.

Roxy just find someone to follow and get towed into the jump and you'll hit it right.

I'm heading up to BB this weekend and want to get some riding in while there. I'm looking to do some XC type riding in or around Snow Summit, any trail/loop recommendations in the 10-20 mile range? The bike park looks awesome but I don't have the gear or skill to do what some of you are doing out there and I know it's not as easy as you all make it look...or is it:-k

Skyline is on the Big Bear side of the lake and meets your criteria. If you drive to the other side of the lake, consider Grout Bay/Hanna Flats/Gray's Peak. Enjoy the mountains!

I rode there today and asked: Midweek will be open until 9/12 then the Fri-Sun weekends continue weather permitting.

*If you have a Midweek Pass (such as myself) they will honor those on Fridays.

Snow Summit is very easy to navigate and is a blast with an XC bike - people will give you some weird looks if you show up in your spandex, but don't worry about it. Get a lift ticket at Snow Summit and a map - from the top of the mountain you can ride a ton of XC type trails that lead down to the base of Snow Summit. Everything is clearly marked and classified by technical level, i've ridden most of it on a carbon hardtail, you'll be fine as long as you stay away from the (very obvious) gravity trails. If you are in OK shape get an all day pass - you will want to do multiple runs. Most of the trails still require some pedaling. I usually do a few of the closer trails and then finish the day with a run down Pine Knot which requires a decent amount of pedaling to get back to the base of the hill.

Just note that a lot of the XC trails have hiker traffic so you'll want to limit your speed on busy weekends. Ride safe!

I thought I graduated back in 198?, spent 6 years doing college and other stuff, returned to HS and haven't been allowed to leave since then!

PS I am really, really, really, really, really, really tired of HS dances. Please take my place as chaperone so I can get some sleep, get up early and go to Snow Summit. I think Mo would be a very effective chaperone, don't you?

I'd be so bitter if I had to listen to top 40 music all night long. I hope you have a good set of ear plugs.

So, if I may steer the discussion back to the jumps...

I'm trying to learn better jumping technique (and since I can't ride right now I want to talk about it instead). There are a few that I am just about clearing now. I don't know which they are specifically, but some of the smaller ones. They are feeling much smoother/easier, almost like I'm not even leaving the ground. One or two of the larger/steeper ones are beginning to feel better on take-off, but I'm still landing flat. Ian's been helping me out with this, mostly by letting me try to keep up with him on the runs. But I'm wondering what I'm doing that's making it better on some, so I can keep doing that. So here's a question: on those taller/steeper jumps, is it better to attack it harder and compress the suspension by trying to sort of "ride thru" the jump? Not sure if that makes any sense. Any thoughts from the regulars/old-timers/super-jumpers? (Keep in mind I'm using my 33-lb Process 153, not a DH bike.)

I always preload my suspension. It's feeling better bc you're getting more comfortable. Keep it up. Practice makes perfect.

Pat, I got my front tire over the backside of the 650b jump on Monday; I take the smaller step down, so a few pedal strokes is probably all I need in order to clear it - I think speed is what you need most but what do I know?? I just like to ride ... :)

Hope to make one more day w you and Ian before the season is over bud!
