I read on his blog he has been doing a lot of training at the Fullerton Loop. It looks like it is paying off.

Unbelievable. Always interesting to see what the pros consider pushing the limits.

I love how he leaps up the rock like going up a curb. Just enough pop to clear it. For anyone who has not been there, it's on a very steep climb - not flat like the overhead shot makes it look. Also, nice run down the trail we can't say (but rhymes with phonics) too. I run that trail full-faced and fully padded on my 8" travel DH sled, and strangely, not nearly as fast. Lopes is the poster child for NOT being over-biked. Wheeeee!

To me that launch up the rock headed toward Meadows is every bit as impressive as his runs down "phonics".. when you look at that section in person it doesn't look even remotely possible (at least not to me).. :)

This vid helps with the perspective a bit more by seeing how other riders are having a tough time just pedaling it

For those records he was either riding his Mojo, his Mojo, his Mojo or his other Mojo. He doesn't ride a "DH" bike. I've had the pleasure of watching him in person in the Leaping Lizard race on "Hooked on Phonics and rhymes with demonics." His upper body remains calm, chest low while his legs and bike absorb the terrain. The only other DHer I've seen in person who rides like that is some Temecula kid - Aaron something. Rhymes with "win."

sick. I saw this on youtube a few months ago. Ever since, every time I hit that spot on the trail I try to speed up to see how he does it and attack the climb- I don't even get close. If I hadn't seen it on video I would say it wasn't possible. un-freakin-believable, full props.
