lol. i have kids. at first i was thinking that a place selling mac n cheese was a stupid idea, but went there cuz the kids wanted mac n cheese. they had a pretty good sized menu and so far i've liked every variation that i've tried.

    1. El Tepeyac (hole in the wall but expect a line outside the door)
    2. Los Angeles (http://manuelseltepeyac.com/)
    3. Mexicana
    4. Man vs food burrito, Chilaquiles

:bang: I used to eat there back in the mid-70's when I was working on a construction site just down the street on Evergreen. To this day, I have not found Mexican food that good anywhere. Killer guac, and everything I tried was awesome. Many like the 'Hollenbeck' burrito, but I preferred another whose name escapes me right now. If you didn't get there 15 minutes before they opened, there would be a line. There was a to-go window on the side patio of the building and that was usually quicker than waiting for a place to sit inside.

If you're there when the Catholic church across the street lets out. . . . . . fuggedaboutit.

    2: Lakewood (2601 Carson Street)
    3: Coffee Shop
4: Coffee Shop type fare - LARGE portions and decent food and pretty fair prices.

Be prepared to wait for a table at peak times, but the owners came through the waiting area giving away free fudge to those waiting. Very friendly staff.

    1: Bandit's BBQ
2: Thousand Oaks (north end of Janns Mall shopping center)
    3: BBQ
4: Unbeatable Tri-Tip Sandwich - Pretty good BBQ sammich (by L.A. standards, which isn't saying a lot, but still pretty good)

Reading thru the lists I am surprised that many of ya'all are not making healthy choices...pizzia, burgers, and most mex is not that healthy.

Funny you mention the Dubliner. For the past 7 or so years, I often go to The Dubliner in Ikebukuro Japan. They have great pizza. Yeah, I know, it's odd to have pizza in an Irish pub in Japan. Whatever.

Riding bikes is a healthy choice, right? And we eat junk food for enjoyment, right? They balance eachother out, right? Right? ;)

Not that surprising to me since the topic is "favorite places to eat" rather than "places that serve healthy food that doesn't taste like yard clippings or cardboard (NTTAWWT)" :?: . Plenty of mountain bikers quaff considerable quantities of adult beverages and/or regularly partake in safety breaks and I wouldn't characterize those as particularly healthy choices either.

I ride more for the fun factor and the camaraderie. The health benefit of mountain biking is important to me, but it ranks below those factors. If I rode purely for the health benefit I get, I would be 'riding' a stationary recumbent since it's much less dangerous and far more efficient both financially and time-wise. And I would likely burn out on it in a relatively short time.

Perhaps it would be more . . . . palatable if it were framed like this (?) ;~) :

I don't always drink beer (make unhealthy food choices), but when I do, I prefer . . . . El Tepeyac.

Stay thirsty (hungry #-o, er I mean. . . . healthy) my friends!

Heard so many good things about this place, still haven't gotten a chance to try it though I live within walking distance!

I'm not going to tell you where I love to eat. Then you guys are all going to go and I won't be able to find a spot to sit/at the bar.

Secret Spot in Huntington Beach, PCH and Warner. Vegetarian place, everything is awesome
Open Sesame in Belmont Shores on 2nd street. Lebanese cuisine, again everything I have tried here is great.
Crema Cafe, Seal Beach on Main Street...lattes and mochas here are outstanding
Beachwood BBQ, Seal Beach on Main Street. Great beer selection and the fried green tomato salad is very tasty
Red Table, Huntington Beach. New little restaurant that just opened in Huntington Harbour. Great food, nice atmosphere, good beer selections.

JeffJ - Good call with Sylvesters. I almost mentioned it, but wanted to list fav places closer to home. I ate there last month when I was up there on a business trip. Quite a ways off the main freeway, but worth it. I had the buffalo burger and mushrooms. Ummmm good.

Dean: I try to eat healthy, so my "once every three months" burger and fries was at Sylvesters in Los Osos. Gotta indulge once in a while.....

Another great Mexican place is in Frazier Park, across from the Flying J gas station. Los Pinos Mexican Restaurant: top 5 Mexican places I've eaten at.

I hear what you are saying Mike. Puffy Taco is awesome. I usually eat there on the way home from getting new ink at Classic Tattoo in Fullerton.

That one is "Los Pinos" and it's very good and modestly priced. Excellent place to refuel after a day on McGill.

Get the carnitas tacos and smother them with the hot sauce. For $6-7, you get two tacos (with a pound of meat from the looks), rice, beans, and a drink. Yummy yummy yummy.

    1. Pizza Port CARLSBAD
    2. Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad (pizzaport.com)
    3. Pizza and beer
    4. All of their beer is good (theirs and whatever else they have on tap!). Build your own pizza is fab. I've been to all of the Pizza Port's aside from OB repeatedly, and this one has the best pizza.

    1. Slater's 50-50
    2. Santa Ana Canyon Blvd, Anaheim Hills, CA (slaters5050.com)
    3. Burgers (specialty) and fries, etc. Pub appetizers
    4. 50-50 burger (50% beef, 50% BACON). The foccacia bread was awesome. The spicy beef burger was also killer. Sweet potato fries good. Have only been once, but if I'm going to pay $10 for a burger - this is it. 2/3lbs patty (weighed AFTER cooking) and it is a massive burger. Awesome combo of toppings and additives to build your own. Good atmosphere, tons of TVs for sports.

    3. Mex!
    4. Haven't had it but heard their lobster burrito is amazing. I had their fish tacos not the best, but pretty good. I really like their burritos too. Just a variety of fish tacos and burritos and a bit different than a general place with lobster, etc. - wild alaskan salmon bowls/burritos

EDIT! Didn't realize this was all over the place!

On 19th between Placentia and Pomona by Smart and Final. I go there to get Carnitas by the pound and whole chicken to cater my own parties. Great football watching food with no kitchen work and at a very reasonable price to boot.

Wow this reply could take hours to type but I will just put out some of my favorite places to eat.

    Stonefire Grill -
    http://www.stonefiregrill.com/
    Various locations

Go there with a group of four and order the Stimulus package for approximately 22.00. The meal includes 1-2 topping pizza, a good sized salad, breadsticks, and tri tip.

    BBQ -
    Baby Blues in Venice -
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/baby-blues-bbq-venice
I went there and got the BBQ platter that included way too much food for four people but everything on it was so delicious.

    Korean BBQ
    Cham Sut Gol
    9252 Garden Grove Blvd
    Ste 10
    Garden Grove, CA 92842
    (714) 590-9292
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/cham-sut-gol-korean-bbq-garden-grove
This is approx. 21 dollars tax and tip from what I can recall for their AYCE (All you can eat). This is my favorite AYCE KBBQ place and I've eaten at many. They also have unlimited Thirfty's ice cream to eat after. I love the green tea ice cream and typically get about 8 scoops. They also just opened a sister store in Buena Park off of Beach.

    Taiwanese:
    Sinbala
    651 W Duarte Rd
    Arcadia, CA 91007
    (626) 446-0886
    Sister store is Simbala
    18489 Colima Rd
    Rowland Heights, CA 91748
    (626) 581-9885
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/sinbala-restaurant-arcadia
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/simbala-restaurant-rowland-heights
You can get a meal for approx. 6.50 that includes sausage, rice, corn, garlic cabbage, and minced pork. I'd also suggest getting the shaved ice. I've been here over 50 times and I've only ordered number 1. Sinbala sausage rice. The deep friend pork chop is good as well.

    Earthen
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/earthen-restaurants-hacienda-heights
This place has the best Jelly fish that i've ever eaten. They also have a really good chinese pancake (green onion flaky "bread" like appetizer)

    Hong Kong style food
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/green-island-temple-city

    Shabu
    28715 Los Alisos Blvd
    Mission Viejo, CA 92692
    (949) 588-3225
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/shabu-mission-viejo

This place is so highly rated not just because of the delcious tasting meat but also because of the experience. If you like conversating while dining this is a great place. The owner, "Hot Mama", is a crack up and is very entertaining. Of all the shabu places i've been to, the meat here has tasted the best. Approx. $20 per person

    Panini's
    Aldo's Sidewalk Cafe
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/aldos-sidewalk-caffe-san-juan-capistrano
We went there and got the sandwich special for $5.00. The sandwiches are delicious and pretty reasonably priced. If you're in the neighborhood stop by but I wouldn't drive too far just to try it. Would be an easy stop after riding San Juan.

    Brunch:
    Break of Dawn
    24351 Avenida De La Carlota
    Laguna Hills, CA 92653
    (949) 587-9418
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/break-of-dawn-laguna-hills
This place is atruly a hidden gem in south OC. The corned beef has here is the best i've ever had. This restaurant has limited hours or else i'd be there much more often.

    Steak:
    Houstons (find your local Houstons)
The Hawaiian rib-eye is quite a deal for $30.00 in the world of good steaks. I'll probably never return to Ruth's Chris after eating the Hawaiian Rib Eye at Houstons.

    Peter Luger Steakhouse
    178 Broadway
(between 6th St & Driggs Ave)
    Brooklyn, NY 11211
Neighborhoods: South Williamsburg, Williamsburg - South Side
    (718) 387-7400 www.peterluger.com
    http://www.yelp.com/biz/peter-luger-steak-house-brooklyn
This place is quite pricey but definitely worth a visit when you are visiting NYC. If you are a bacon lover they have a delicious thick slab of bacon for approximately $3.00. You order the steak by amount of people eating. All of the waiters are male and I've heard that this place has a lot of history. One the walls you will notice the 25 consecutive years of winning best steakhouse in NY by Zagat!

Okay that is enough typing for now.... I have many more places to eat but then I don't have the time, haha.
