Could not have said it better myself. Stop waiting on these incompetent people and take action. I would not give them any more chances. You have already given them too much.
    Done.

+1 Revo and talk to Mike, I believe he's the head mechanic. Also, Bike Religion in Newport Beach are C-dale dealers. Have had great customer service experience at both shops.

Assuming they do get it in the next couple days, have they told you if they can put it on in time? If not, arrange with one of the other shops to do it..they don't deserve your business anymore.

I would call Cannondale and tell them of your experience with the shop. After all the shop is representing there product and I bet they wouldn't be too happy.

But that is a problem with most of the new big bike brands running propiertary parts.

    Not that I've seen.
Sure, Cannondale & some Specialized stuff is proprietary, but outside of that things are pretty wide-open (at least with MTBs).

They won't get the parts before the weekend. Looks like I will be riding the 25 miler without a shock. I have an option to try a demo bike from another bike store, but it won't be available until Saturday. Doesn't seem like a good idea to ride a bike that I have not broken into on a long ride. I would rather ride a bike that I am familiar with, and just take all the beatings on the trail.

Once the parts arrive from Cannondale, I think I will just pick them up and take'em to another store for them to finish the work. I've paid for them already.

I'm not a confrontational guy by nature, but I agree with some earlier posters: You're going WAY too easy on these guys. They've failed spectacularly at the most basic concepts of service. They need to know that you paid good money to them and to a charity ride and that they owe you. I think a demo bike for a day is pretty reasonable.

If you're doing the 25 mile route, it's not technical and the pace is casual with a couple of pit stops along the way. I wouldn't worry about being on an unfamilar bike as long as the basic fit is OK.

They have no demo bike to offer. Another shop has one, but it will cost $50. I would rather donate that to the Rwanda charity. Actually they (Irvine Bicycles) have nothing to offer but excuses about Cannondale's failure to ship in time and having too many customers to take care of. Looks like they will have at least one less customer to worry about.

I will take my familiar bike without a shock. Hey that is how original mountain bikers did it, isn't it?

He is the person I have been dealing with. He seems like a nice enough guy, but somewhat clueless when it comes to customer service. He tries to wear too many hats.

Hate to say it, but too many LBS and others seems to be shining people on...HippieTech and I have gone back and forth over rebuilding an old Rock Shock rear to the point I get no return e-mails (5 months in...I can't even get the original back). Unfortunately, unless you don't take the high road, you get results being the squeaky wheel.

Here is the email I sent to the Cannondale sales rep in charge of the order:

If Cannondale tells me to go take a hike, I hope we can find a way to unleash our collective anger. As a side note, I may end up getting a new bike instead of spending money to fix the Cannondale which is a bit too big for me. Points made about having to deal with proprietary parts are well taken. Lessons learned.

ok prof David...I feel for your pain and will offer my Tuner Flux (medium) for the ride since I cannot make it. It's a bit dirty now, but I rode it this am. While I don't know you yet, I think we can arrange something as I hope to be at the raffle. respond here or PM me.

I appreciate the thought. Actually I have made an arrangement for a demo bike which I may end up buying. Thank you very much though.

    Update:

I ended up renting an Ibis bike from The Bike Co. in Lake Forest. THAT. WAS. NICE...

Cannondale never processed the order! It shipment was not late. It never happened. LOL. It is turning out to be a blessing in disguise since I was leaning toward using the fund toward a new purchase.
