Guess I'll be using MTBR from now on and reach a much wider audience.

I think the charge for classifieds is overdue. I think he deserves to make a buck off the time and effort he puts into this site.

Now a question, I have tried posting in classifieds garage sale twice, and it has not shown up.
Could I be missing something? File size limit..or...?
Anyone else ahve this problem? Thanks for any help.

When you got to paypal did you click the STR link once you were done? Maybe that has something to do with it.

I don't feel a few value added fees are that big of a deal.

I have gotten a thousandfold more out this site than the monies I have donated/spent here.

For those that want to whine, and feel they can do better elsewhere, then perhaps it is indeed time to move as you have so eloquently stated is possible.

The best part of the new classifieds is that since it's not one of the forums that can be easily browsed, I never seem to check it out...Why is that good? I don't buy stuff posted here any more (although I think my wife likes that more than me).

    I'll throw in my 2 cents. . .

I think $1.50 is a fair price, especially if you're selling something big, like a bike or something. You can always go eslewhere for free (craigslist or something).

I suggest what my local pennysaver does though, and that's a free ad for items under a certain price, say $40 for this site. That way, folks can get rid of parts and whatnot without feeling like they are getting too pinched.

Is there anyway that we can see a list of the latest ads posted, inclusive of all categories? I liked the old format where you could see them heaped together by posting date if you chose to do so. Is there a way that we can do that with the system as is? Anyone?

^You can use the Classifieds search feature, select Advanced, and put in a date range and select "All" for the categories.

I am in the same boat, unless I am looking for something specific I don't look at the classifieds. When it was on the main page I would check it whenever there was something new. Because of this I impulse bought some wheels and a stem that I wasn't otherwise looking for.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with the charge to sell things.

Thanks for the tip. I am not seeing a way to organize search results to show up by latest post to oldest in the advanced search options though...am I missing that?

That resolves my biggest complaint with the new system. I used your suggestion, then changed the ads per page, then changed the sort order to reverse chronological, then saved the resulting URL as a bookmark. Now all the ads are just one click away.

    THANK YOU.

When using the advanced search feature in the classifieds area, I don't see where you can sort chronologically. I see the option for the old marketplace, but not for the "Classifieds". Where did you find it?

    Thanks.

It's not in the Advanced Search. After you do the search and the results are returned, you are given several sort options.

I just glanced over the discussion and I'm sure I'm echoing a few people, but I'm a part of this community and I want to join in.

The market place say's it's sponsored by Jenson USA, leads me to assume their giving some funds. Not enough to offer a free forum to sell/buy?

I post things in the market place and craigslist, with the posting here at a discounted price, knowing it will go to someone active in the biking community.

Spammers and Lurkers and other random problems that are associated with the free market place are going to focus there attention on all the other forums we have. Just don't see the the positives out weighing the negatives.

I come here to read about rides, trails and new bikes, so I'm not to effected. As long as a WTB add is free I'm cool.

    P.S. got a 2009, 19".......J/K

I'm trying to post a couple of FS items but every time I fill out the form and submit it it sends me back to the "step 2" drop down box.

So to prove the point that the Classifieds is no longer about the "community," I just saw an ad from a person who has never posted.

A question on advertisements.....is there any way that I can edit my own ad? For instance, if a certain time after posting, I decide to drop the price, do I need to contact a mod to have them change it for me? If there isn't a way to allow the ad placer to edit at least basic portions of their ads, can we get that added?
