    Good time combo for XC/Trail?
Just got my Crest/Hope wheels. Not looking to Over $80 a tire though... tire prices are crazy.

After losing pressure in my tubeless tire (on a tubeless ready wheel), I put in a tube to finish out the ride. Well, it went completely flat in less than 2 miles. I chalked it up as a fluke. For the next ride, I put in another tube in to tide me over before running to the shop for a bottle of Stans. Made it all the way to Beek's place, but on the way back, the tire began to lose pressure again, but much more gradually this time. Stopping every 5 minutes to pump up allowed me to finish the ride.

So drawing from the two episodes above, I am guessing that the tubeless tire is not a very hospitable environment for a tube. There is no tape for example. So is there anything else that can be done on the trail if a tubeless tire goes flat? The first episode was very disheartening. With no more tubes on hand, I had to walk all the way from the fire house to the court house. Can't say I didn't get a good workout that night.

If your sealant is fresh, under 6 months in normal conditions, 4 for me in dry climate, you should be able to just pump air and ride unless the tire is damaged.

Also, did you put enough sealant in? A 2.35 tire requires about 3 scoops of Stans or so.

The sealant should be rushing to the hole and sealing it up.

I dont like using tubeless on my DH just because of the maintenance schedule and how seldom I actually work on my dh bike.

I will bet that you have a something(thorn or glass) in your tire. If you have gone through two tubes something is in the tire puncturing the tubes.
Take a cotton ball(instead of your fingers) and run along inside of tire to find the problem.

Not sure what type of rims you have, but there are spoke holes in your rims and not rim tape (either stans, gorilla or tubeless rim strip) then there may be that the tube is rubbing on one of the spoke holes and causing the flats.

It had only been two months since I replenished the sealant. Perhaps I should have been more patient with pumping air in, but it was hard with a hand pump. It was fairly wet inside when I opened it.

Yeah, a cartridge works better at making the sealant rush into hole area.

A problem with tubeless tires, is that you can get a lot of goatheads that imbeded in the them. Not a problem until you have to put a tube in for whatever reason. The body of the goathead eventually breaks off, but the thorn is still imbedded in there. So when you need to put a tube in, there are multiple little goathead spikes just waiting to puncture it!

    Ask me how I know!!!#-o
