That makes two of us that are bummed! This chest cold really has knocked me out of action. At least you get to enjoy seeing your buds... take care.

  2. I hike with my bike all the time. Sometimes I just get off the bike and push for a mile or so. Particularly if it's a long uphill and my butt starts to hurt. I like the fact that it works different muscles. Sometimes I start to question why I bring my bike at all, then when I go down hill, all becomes clear. :)

Aid station 8? Does that mean there are 8 places to eat? That would be great, but exactly where will you be? We can't wait to see you.

I have been off the bike for about 3 weeks now with back issues. MRI showed a small tear in the disk that supports L5. The first 2 weeks were not pleasant at all but things are getting better everyday. My PT guy says that I can start getting back to regular activities in the next few days.:bang:

All I know is Aid Station 8 is in a field near Antonio Pkwy so I a assuming it is early in the ride.

I can't wait to see all you guys. I miss riding so much but will be riding before you know it. Thanks for encouraging me to volunteer. It's better than staying away and sulking.

I do a lot of hiking with the bike as well but it's because I am a chicken and I don't want anymore injuries. I am hoping as time goes on I will be more "chicken-less." I hope it does not become a mental thing with me and I can get over it. Time will tell. I don't want to be off the bike again.

    Good for you Teri.

My left knee still aches but it is better. The right has no pain. Hopefully with rest, it'll be ready for the Traverse. I'll be resting while doing the 50. I'll be sure and stop and say hello. __________________

Sorry to hear about your knee. Have you considered swiming? I know a lot of people in my swim group who swim as a reult of knee issues. Once the knee starts acting up it seems to be an ongoing thing. Hope it's OK for tomorrow.

Yes, please stop and say hello. Tomorrow should be a perfect riding day.

Bummer you will need to be off the bike.

Physical Therapy is not bad. I actually look forward to my appointments. Just make sure you do the exercises they assign you (every day) and you will find you will progress a lot quicker than they tell you. I am way ahead of where I should be after 6 weeks and I attribute that to keeping with the program and making sure I do my exercises at home every day. I also think when they tell you how long you will be down they give you the worst case scenario. Everyone is different and some of us are quick healers and some not so quick.

I hope you are a quick healer. Stick with the Program!!!

    Good Luck,

    Teri

I guess I cam officially add my name to the list. I hurt my shoulder last weekend racing 4x and thought it was bruised but had a doctor friend check it out and its an AC joint separation. Nothing can be done beside rest it. So I am resting it as much as I can until Sea Otter.

Julia12 made it on this list. Julia crashed at the Loop last night. It's great to be able to say she is fine. Cut's and bruises on her head and chin, her arm in a sling. The doc said no activity for a couple of weeks. Her doc is a real funny guy with a great sense of humor. He was pretty serious when he looked at me and said a couple of weeks. He and I seemed pretty sure her elbow was injured due to the swelling of the arm. The ex-ray's came out good. He gave me a list to observe for signs of the head injury. I'll be reading it soon. I still have to inspect her helmet. Julia is pretty bummed that she will be off the bike. Julia is trying to convince me her doc said 3 days. I'll have to take her to get a hearing exam.;) I've never seen her more quiet. We keep thinking of stuff for her to do with one arm it's tricky. This is only her first day and she's going crazy. Thanks to Dino and McGyver who were riding with her for taking care of her. Also, everyone that stuck around with her. Julia said she felt pretty dizzy at the time.

If anyone has a trainer we can buy or borrow it will be greatly appreciated.

Dayum! One might think mountain biking was dangerous with all of the folks on the DL here.

    Heal up soon folks!

Ugh. Give Julia my sympathy. There's a trainer sitting in the garage with about ten miles and a quarter inch of dust on it. We're headed to the air show in Chino, but will be home later this afternoon if you want to come and pick it up.

A month ago, I was rescued from Aliso Woods. Shattered my clavicle, broke some ribs, my shoulder clicks like its got marbles rolling around in it, and lost a lot skin. Scabs have fallen off and I have fresh scar tissue. Rambo has nothing over me in the scar department. Doctor said another 30 days for the bones to fuse and then we'll decide what's next. Probably physical therapy.

Slipped a pedal on the DH bike and did not crash but the Specialized Mag Lo Pro's took a good chunk out of the ft of my shin leaving me with 10 stitches and a bit sore.. It was nice to see my tibia, I was wondering what it looked like WOOT

The funny thing is that I was headed to The Path after the ride to pick up some clippless DH pedals.. Too Late

healing vibes to julia. i just gave my trainer to a peep on the board via the pay it forward thread...sorry.

J i did something "similar" while boarding and spinning on a rail. think it was 6-7 staples. get some opsite (below) and pads and you can ride cuz no dirt gets through that sh1te.

think i was back ridng very next day. only thing is i felt EVERY f'n bump as the nerve ending we so sensitive. heal up bud
