Is anyone else completely over this summer heat wave we are experiencing well into October and most likely will be into November? I know we don't have official seasons in SoCal but we still get a pseudo Fall/Winter with cooler temps usually. Where is it? I want it? I want to ride in the middle of the day and not fry. When did SoCal turn into an Arizona summer? Between the heat and the looming time change in a week or so our riding time is going to be even more limited.

I really need to get some lights because it looks like night riding is becoming a must...

    Sorry, just venting. :)

I personally enjoy the warmer weather and hope it lasts throughout November. It makes night ride training for VQ much easier.

I'm liking the heat. Those of us with achey backs and knees, it helps keep those internal lubes at nice operating temp.

And what? Jordan you don't like tang top weather for the noogs?

I HATE the heat. No green to be found, and the dirt is just not as good. I might as well not even come on STR during the summer months, just reminds me of how much i'm not riding. Mountain biking should be done under the clouds just before it rains.

Still hot in the days, but the nights have been spectacular. I'm not looking forward to riding with long sleeves.

At least this summer there wasn't many steamy hot nights. Those are the absolute worse.

he he Yeah, I like it too. Adds another dimension to the pain and suffering on the climb.

I grew up racing moto in Texas. I remember finishing races in 105 degree temps, wearing full leathers, boots, full face.. then jumping into the river next to the Lake Whitney track, and falling asleep in the bed of the truck under the big oaks. ahh, the memories 8-[

yeah ... that's why I live in Ventura. I don't understand why people live where its brown.

That said, if there were jobs available I'd move back to Oregon, where there is real weather and the people are sane.

The heat has been killing me smalls. Driving from Anaheim to Pomona and the 10 degree difference is too much, I can't even roll down my driver side window right now without it falling off the track so I always have to have the AC on hah

    Perfect temperature is around 66-68!

OMG, it's been in the very low 50's during the day up here. I'm freezing! Although, it is perfect riding weather. Looking forward to coming down in a few days to thaw out.:)

That depends entirely on the context of those steamy hot nights...

I have mixed feelings about the heat. If I could spend my days sipping margaritas by the pool then it can't really get too hot. I love it for riding and getting outside, but running around town in the heat sucks. Standing under the blazing sun for a couple of hours for AYSO in a full sweat is getting old - not that I don't love watching my boys, but the heat gets brutal. I swam laps in my cold-ish pool yesterday morning, ran some errands for a bit which included a stop to see the fine folks at Switchback Cyclery, then rode up Blackstar to Sierra at 2pm (HOT), followed by hanging out at Staples Center from 6 to 10pm for the Kings game. My internal thermostat was completely out of whack and now I'm pretty tapped today. So yeah, I guess I'm pretty much over it too. But hopefully it will never be as brutal as the 2008 Traverse. That was HOT!!

I vowed a long time ago that I wasn't gonna complain about cool/cold weather because I'd much rather have it be a bit too cool than WAAAAY too hot!

I do reserve the right to gripe about too much rain, though.

81 degrees in Running Springs right now. I'm usually getting my snow blower serviced about this time of year. I think I'll put it off for a few weeks.

patience, grasshoppers (sorry omr). relief is on the way, with below average temps by the weekend and a chance of showers. everyone will be complaining about rain in a couple of months.

also, it could be way worse--some places in the northeast got a foot of snow today. poor sods...
