Add a New one to your list if you live in Huntington: Surf City Cycles: Specialized bicycles Huntington Beach, Surf City Orange County, California - Home. Went in quickly for egg beater clips and stayed for a half an hour. I noticed that there were a lot of familiar faces...:-k I asked and the owner is the old Supergo GM and he started his own shop. Super nice. I don't know about service but he has all of the old Supergo guys there which were good when I used to go there. Good to see besides a chain store in town!!! :bang:

Yep, Sean has a beautiful shop there, esp if you like Specialized stuff (though they carry others too). Service has been good there too - they do a good job of being attentive but also leaving you along to cruise as needed. There are a lot of experienced folks working there, and it's a good blend of mainstream and hardcore.

And for the record, I agree that The Path is a really solid shop, and the drool factor for the stuff they sell is off the chart. I just didn't get the sort of welcoming vibe I've had at some shops, but I'll try them again when the time comes. But yeah ... what's up with going in through the back door, then having everyone look at you like you just trespassed? 8-[

I agree with Flat Broke's point: With Switchback, Adrenaline, Path, the Orange/Tustin area is loaded. (and Performance Tustin or Jax Irvine, if needed) I can't vouch for the other shops, but Adrenaline is great about price matching too. Between selection, service, and prices, there's not much reason to drive further than those shops if you're in that area.

Thanks for finding this place. I live about 10 minutes away and drive right by it almost everyday and never even knew it was there. If it was a snake it would of bit me :)

The Path has been the shop I go to for all my major stuff for years. They kick arse in all aspects. However, if I need something smaller like White Lightning or Gu Gels, and since I live right around the corner, Surf City Cyclery really is a good shop. Everytime I've been in there, they have been really friendly & helpful, and they have decent selection. Mostly Specialized, but Intense as well.

Surf City Cyclery has treated me well since day one. So much so that I bought my road bike there without question. Sean Flynn is a stand up guy and always stands behind his word. If they were closer to me I would take my bike there more often but its a 45 minute drive from my house. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful and I never get the feeling I am being sold into something.

I have to say this bike shop stands out from most, I know the selection is not what most mountain bikers are looking for, but at a moments notice they can get a part. I have known sean f. for almost 14 years and t.j. for close to 12 and these two guys make this store what is. they have the best customer service in all of orange county hands down. I have been to almost every shop u guys talk about and by far these guys do the best job. I do have to give tawni? at the path props the first time i dealt w/ him he was very nice and bearded dave was great. but surf city is a great all around bike shop for anyone who goes in. and not too many shops in oc can say that. I know i sound a little biased w/ surf city, but since day one sean and t.j. were not only "bike shop guys", they turned into friends that i enjoy talking to about anything and they are always willing to listen. and that says alot about their character and the extent to which they will go for a regular guy like me. they have earned my business for life and i will not go to another shop because of this commitment. u guys can take this with a grain of salt, but give them a try i know most of u will be satisfied and if u aren't then go back to your shop. but at least u can give a educated opinion and not use someone elses word of mouth opinion. thanks for listening

    Great service!

I love this shop. I cam in as a rank newb. They gave me a nice deal on my bike. Set me up nice and it was all very painless and super friendly. Sean actually stayed with me as i picked out my bike. But the service is were they have won me over. The mechanics and the speed of service are amazing. I came in the day before the huge anniversary sale. and i wanted a tune up and a wheel truing. He said maybe Monday, than i said i had a ride the next day. Candy (the mechanic) gave me a smile said i will see what i can do. Than he spend the next 30 min Giving the bike a once over, adjusting the wheel and indexing all the derailers. For free, and on the spot. I was so impressed i bought a set of sunglasses! and than i came in this past Sunday with a massively taco'ed wheel. We talked for a bit, figured out the costs, and 35 min later my ride had a brand new wheel set from mavic on it. at 20% off i might add! I didn't have to miss my Sunday ride

    Great, Great place!

I am a big fan of the crew over at Surf City Cyclery. Sean Flynn is the GM and if any of you were lost for a time when Supergo sold out to Performance, well, Sean was THE MAN at the Supergo in Fountain Valley. When I found his shop I felt like a duck that found his pond. (Sounds poetic and corny, I know.:)) However, I tried Performance, hell, I drove all the way to Santa Monica trying to find a good vibe, cool employees - with knowledge, in a store with fair pricing and really was left wanting.

They are a Specialized Concept Shop and carry other brands like Felt, Cervello, Intense... They have a pretty solid inventory. Sean is a certified BG Fit specialist so you will ride away feeling like all your power is transferinig tothe pedals:clap:.

I give you this for free, cause I used my last .02 cents at the shop!

I've known most of the working staff there since Super Go in Fountain Valley and these guys are friendly and helpfull. All the mechanics do excellent work and I've known Eric and Candy for awhile and they are friendly and trustworthy.

The guys at Surf City are very cool, very friendly and quite knowledgeable. They price matched an item (no questions asked) I KNEW no one locally would have! Thanks fellas!

Kinda' surprising: When I walked into Surf City (a few months after it opened), it had the same friendly vibe (and energy) of the old Supergo. Best wishes!

When's the next DEMO DAY? :?:

They're super cool about price matching, and their stock on bikes is pretty amazing. If you like Specialized, Intense, Nirve, or Felt, this is the shop for you. Crazy good selection of Specialized; better than the old SuperGo. Nice selection of nutrition to boot. I got my bike fit there as well.

If you don't like Specialized accessories, look elsewhere. Some people have said that their location is teh suck, but I beg to differ. It's close to REI, vitamin Shoppe and BevMo. You can even stop by Kabuki for some sushi afterwards.

Definitely a bunch of decent guys that are truly concerned with getting things right. I worked at Supergo for Sean ( with Ben/bjammin ) a couple years ago and really liked the way he ran things - gave the employees the ability to take any customer all the way thru any sale with ease. Once the Levitz behemoth store gets demolished and something decent goes up, that area will turn around even better for that location.

WTF? No more Levitz? Why wasn't there a thread about this posted? Does the TV stations know of this? Where am I going to buy my throw away furniture now? What aren't I told these things? C'mon people news like this should not be kept secret, afterall it's not everyday a furniture store goes out of business.

My next road bike will either be a Spec Roubaix or a Tarmac, if I don't go crazy and get a Colnago/Pinerello instead. I'll have to get down there and see what they have to offer first.

I can't believe I'm going to but another bike for over 6 large!

Walked in Surf City today and recognized Sean Flynn from the ol'e SuperGo. I didn't know he had started his own shop in H.B. I was pretty impressed with the inventory of Specialized & Felt bikes in the showroom. Me and my buddy Johnny spoke with Sean for about 20 minutes. He was very helpful and came across as a very cool dude. My buddy had his Specialized Epic serviced there and they turned it around in under 3 days (rear shock rebuild). Seems like a great shop and all the people there were very friendly. This place is really a gorgeous bike shop, very clean and laid out really nice plus the bathrooms are top notch...:) Great place might even look at some bikes next time.. : ) Erik

I used to work there before I got my current job. If you guys would have seen the shit that went on in there with all the employees you wouldn't have bought furniture from them.

Anyways props to Surf City Cyclery for having my der hanger when I went in the other week.
