I have a Forte Pisgah and I have tried to set it up tubeless on a Easton Havoc UST wheel and for the life of me I can't get the thing to hold air. I even tried with a compressor. Do you have some tricks on how to set up tubeless?

I had some Continental Mountain King II's (Protection) and just wasn't digging them. They just didn't have enough grip when railing turns.

Just switched to a Schwalbe HD (Trail Star) 2.35 and a Nobby Nic (Pace Star) in the rear. They are AWESOME! No dead spots when cornering and they actually roll faster than expected.

Aside from the price, these are hard to beat.

    I installed it on a Mavic 819
All I do is put a tube in it and pump it up, letting the beads seat.
Then I only break the bead only on one side and remove the tube.
I then put some soap water on the bead and pump up the tire, seating the bead without Stans in the tire.
Once both beads are set, I let the air out and put the Stans in through the valve stem, then refill with air.

Rollin on a set Bontrager xr3, when digging in on the incline for instance the 7th ave approach to ascend Turnbull, the rear tire loses traction and begins to slide out of tread.

I got my bike used and it came with wtb weirwolf 2.3's front and rear. Where I ride in the Saugus area these things let go on every turn. The trail I ride has mostly loose over hardpack and some straight up sand pits. It felt really unsafe with those tires. Since I was on a budget I had to look for cheap tires. I settled on a 2.3 Pisgah in the front and a 2.2 Tsali in the rear. I have been really impressed with this combo. Much better traction than the weirwolves and much faster rolling. I haven't tried going tubeless with them though from what I hear it's a nightmare to seat them. Running at 45psi seems to be their sweet spot for my local trails. I have about 100 miles on them so they are still pretty new. My wife liked them so much she swapped her Maxxis Sphinx 2.1 tires to the 2.1 Pisgah and hasn't had any washouts in turns since. Granted we are not super aggressive riders but these tires seem to work really well for us.

I have a set of the Pisgah/Tsali on the way. I hope they're as good as I've read. The price sure was right.

45 psi sounds high. I'd try the 30-35 psi range depending on your weight. I'm 180 lbs and find 26-28 psi front and 30 psi rear works best for my trails. I am tubeless on a 29er. YMMV

I run 45 because the tires ratings are 40-65 psi. Not sure I would be comfortable under inflating them. Maybe if I ran tubeless I could go lower.

Bonty needs to come out with some xr4s in the 27.5 flava already.

WTB Bronson 29'er in a 2.2 - anyone running one of these up front?

My Captains are worn out and would like something different for new front/rear combo. These would be for Moro/LCWP.

    $50 @ Performance today...good price?

At 20 psi you must weigh like 80 lbs. I'm sure they perform well, but I've seen too many RaRa's sliced on rocks.

Then again, if I give up my heavier tires I have less of an excuse for being slow! LOL

Snake skin front and rear, I don't take the slicing chances. I have pulled some large nails out of the treads though and they sealed right up.

Yea, they look right and about the same price as the WTB's. Being lite race tires I would assume they're generally run tubeless? Performance's web site's description says you will be fast and also flat more. I ain't fast and hate flats. Need a Stan's tubeless setup with these I guess?

I only run Orange Seal. I have tried Stans and Continental and Orange sealants. This has been the best for me easiest and haven't had a puncture that wasn't sealed.

As far as weight Im not as big of a wienie as I should be 605g on the Rocket Ron and Racing Ralph 640g. Not super light it all about the feel for me I really like the ride with these tires I feel glued to the dirt when it gets techy but can still pull 25mph on the flats and not feel sluggish sprinting.

160ish I have used three different wheelsets without burping problems. Crankbrothers Cobalt 2's, Stans Crest's, and Novatec's. Just always make sure everything is super clean for the mounting of the tires.

Drop 10 psi, front and rear and they will be much better tires. I'm 215 geared up, and run the Pisgah around 31-32psi in the rear, and about 28+ in the front.

They will stay seated with that low psi under recommended? Won't that be a high pinch flat risk?

Bontrager just came out with the XR4's in 27.5. Should be in most of your Trek/Bontrager dealers. If not, then they will be coming soon!

Yep!! Man the team issues are expensive! Ive never spent more than 50 bucks a tire. The last team issue xr4s I got were around 35 bucks.
