Yeah, that guy could go to jail for what he did. The first toss off is dog is one thing, but continuing to go after the raccoon is another thing.

I'm as opposed to animal cruelty as anyone, but first priority is protecting my pet, and 2nd, anyone who has had a run in with a raccoon knows they can get mean.. seriously.. it's not a hamster he was tossing around, so let's not let our hearts bleed too much.. raccoons can get pissed and maybe that helped fuel some of his aggression toward it.. just my 2 cents

The title of the post was meant to convey sensitivity to other people. Personally, I wouldve gutted that coon with my anti-mountain lion quick draw thingmajiggy. :)

The coon is just doing what 'coons' do - but Mike has the right answer...get a bigger/tougher dog or don't let it out at night without supervision...

Survival of the fittest in the animal kingdom. If your dog can't defend itself leave it inside or in your purse.

They guy went overboard on the raccoon IMO. He got it off the dog , he should have moved the dog inside at the point not continue to attack the raccoon. I can only imagine the comments if that had been a dog attacking a pet raccoon and someone did that to a dog.

Brave/not so bright guy there.......raccoon carries a lot of diseases mainly rabies. He should of left the coon after he tossed it by hand(I'd only kick it off) cause one bite can land him in the hospital and going after the raccoon is a sure way to get bit. Plus most likely the dog cornered the raccoon because raccoons don't attack dogs for no reason, small dogs tends to do stupid stuff like attacking much larger dogs.
